Job Summary:
We are looking for a highly skilled Tableau Analyst with deep expertise in financial data, particularly in budgets, forecasts, purchasing, and actuals. In this role, you will be responsible for translating high-level stakeholder requests into actionable data insights and dashboards. Your keen ability to interpret loosely defined requirements and propose the correct data parsing, data connections, and visualizations will be critical to ensuring the accuracy and effectiveness of our financial and procurement reporting.

Key Responsibilities

Data Interpretation & Analysis

  • Leverage strong domain knowledge in budgeting, forecasting, purchasing, and actuals to interpret complex or minimal stakeholder requirements.
  • Propose the correct approach for parsing, aggregating, and connecting financial data from multiple sources (e.g., ERP systems, purchasing platforms, forecasting tools).

Dashboard & Visualization Development

  • Design, develop, and maintain Tableau dashboards that accurately reflect key financial and procurement metrics (e.g., budget vs. actuals, forecast accuracy, spend categories, PO lifecycle).
  • Ensure dashboards are user-friendly, visually compelling, and actionable for various stakeholder groups (finance leaders, procurement & forecasting teams, and senior executives).

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Work closely with high-level stakeholders—often with limited or high-level requirements—to clarify objectives, explore data nuances, and align on meaningful KPIs.
  • Proactively ask the right questions to fill information gaps and translate business goals into data-driven solutions.

Data Architecture & Management

  • Identify the optimal data sources and structures needed to support robust, scalable dashboards for budget, forecast, purchasing, and actuals data.
  • Oversee data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes, ensuring data integrity, security, and performance.

Quality Assurance & Validation

  • Conduct thorough data validation and reconciliation to guarantee accuracy between various financial systems and Tableau dashboards.
  • Investigate and resolve any discrepancies, collaborating with cross-functional teams (Finance, Procurement, IT) as necessary.

Subject Matter Expertise & Thought Leadership

  • Provide thought leadership on best practices for financial and procurement metrics in Tableau, including insights on variance analysis, cost center reporting, and spend optimization.
  • Monitor and evaluate emerging BI trends and Tableau features to enhance reporting capabilities.
  • Drive process improvements, suggesting new metrics or visualizations that better support financial decision-making.

Required Qualifications

  • Educational Background:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Experience & Technical Skills:
    • 5+ years of hands-on experience in a data analytics or BI role, with a strong focus on Tableau.
    • Proven expertise in budgeting, forecasting, purchasing, and actuals data, including the ability to interpret related financial concepts.
    • Experience with financial Oracle ERP/EPM systems and procurement platforms.
    • Proficiency in SQL for data querying and experience with ETL processes.
    • Demonstrated success in developing and maintaining complex Tableau dashboards for executive-level stakeholders.
  • Analytical & Communication Skills:
    • Exceptional ability to interpret vague or high-level stakeholder requests and translate them into detailed, data-driven requirements.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective cross-functional collaboration.
    • Detail-oriented with a track record of delivering accurate, high-quality work under tight deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with advanced data modeling or programming (Python, R) for more complex transformations.
  • Prior work in a corporate finance or procurement environment, demonstrating thorough understanding of P2P cycles and spend analysis.
  • Tableau certification (e.g., Tableau Desktop Certified Professional) is a plus.
