National Debt Relief (NDR) is seeking a technically skilled ML/AI Ops Engineer to join our Data Engineering team and support the deployment, integration, and operationalization of machine learning and AI models across the enterprise. Reporting to the Director of Data Engineering, this mid-level role focuses on enabling scalable, production-ready ML and AI systems through modern data engineering practices. You’ll work at the intersection of data science, applied AI, and engineering to curate training data, build robust scoring pipelines, and integrate ML platforms such as DataRobot into our Snowflake-based enterprise data warehouse.
The ideal candidate is a data engineer with hands-on experience in machine learning deployment workflows—particularly in Snowflake, dbt, and Python—who understands the nuances of operationalizing both predictive models and emerging Gen AI capabilities. You will play a key role in helping the Data Science and Applied AI teams bring models from concept to production and ensure reliable, monitored, and optimized performance at scale.
Responsibilities
- Own the integration between Snowflake and DataRobot for training and scoring pipelines, ensuring consistent and reliable data flows.
- Build and manage production training and scoring datasets using SQL and dbt within the enterprise data warehouse.
- Support both batch and real-time inference pipelines in collaboration with Data Science and Applied AI teams.
- Partner with data scientists, AI engineers, and product managers to define data requirements and design scalable deployment strategies.
- Ensure model outputs are persisted, versioned, and accessible within Snowflake for downstream analytics and monitoring.
- Contribute to model monitoring infrastructure, enabling drift detection, performance tracking, and alerting where applicable.
- Support Gen AI applications by enabling data integrations, vendor connections, and scalable deployment paths.
- Assist in building custom deployment workflows in Python (e.g., with Kubernetes or REST APIs) when needed for capabilities not supported in Snowflake or DataRobot.
- Document deployment pipelines, data flows, and system configurations for transparency, governance, and reproducibility.
- Collaborate closely with the broader Data Engineering team to ensure alignment with platform standards, data governance, and infrastructure best practices.
Qualifications
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field required. Advanced degree preferred.
- 4 years of experience in data engineering, MLOps, or ML/AI platform integration
- Hands-on experience with modern data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery).
- Experience supporting ML or AI applications in business environments.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Required:
- Strong proficiency in SQL and dbt for building and managing curated datasets.
- Familiarity with model deployment workflows, including batch inference, real-time scoring, and model lifecycle management.
- Working knowledge of DataRobot or equivalent MLOps/AI platforms.
- Ability to write clean, maintainable Python code for data pipelines or deployment logic.
- Familiarity with CI/CD workflows and source control (e.g., Git).
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills to work across engineering, data science, and AI product teams.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Preferred:
- Experience in financial services or a related industry.
- Experience deploying ML models in Kubernetes or containerized environments.
- Familiarity with Gen AI application deployment, vendor integrations, or LLM-based workflows.
- Experience with event-driven architecture or real-time streaming frameworks (e.g., Kafka, Snowpipe).
- Exposure to ML monitoring frameworks or observability platforms.
NDR Role Qualifications:
- Computer competency and ability to work with a computer.
- Prioritize multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Punctuality expected, ready to report to work on a consistent basis.
- Attain and maintain high performance expectations on a monthly basis.
- Work in a fast-paced, high-volume setting.
- Use and navigate multiple computer systems with exceptional multi-tasking skills.
- Remain calm and professional during difficult discussions.
