Director, Value & Access Analytics Insights - Cross Portfolio & Innovation Level 7

Job Summary

The Value and Access Insights Director is responsible for driving innovation within the V&A Analytics insights organization with best-in-class analytics to help develop better V&A strategies and tactics and enable successful access strategy for new product launches. The Commercial Insights Director will focus on driving cross portfolio innovative projects across various pillars of the insights team.  Working closely with the Executive Director of the Value & Access Analytics, the individual in this role will help elevate the analytics capabilities of the team and provide strategic oversight for cross portfolio initiatives

In the face of a US health care system growing more complex day-by-day, we must constantly adapt and evolve our strategies ensure our patients have appropriate access to our medicines.  The US Value & Access (V&A) Insights Director will play a critical role in monitoring, diagnosing and addressing payer obstacles and challenges.  In this role, you will be part of US Value and Access team working to build a deep understanding of the US managed markets environment for assigned products. You will provide integrated analysis combining multiple primary and secondary data sources to uncover deep insights that will guide payer, access and reimbursement strategies.  

Responsibilities:

  • Business ownership of Contracting IQ – Rollout / upgrades to the contracting platform
  • Drive user adoption and expand the tool capabilities to medical benefit products including provider contracting and ASP calculation
  • Provide analytics oversight to 6-8 analytics team members supporting Market Access Teams and Patient Access and Reimbursement (PAR) teams
  • Partner with Brand Marketing, Payer Marketing and Pricing/Contracting teams to build and prioritize analytics and insights plan  
  • Drive innovative projects across portfolio in areas of pre-deal analytics, channel strategies, landscape evolution etc.
  • Look for opportunities to streamline analytics across different TA’s / brand and bring in innovation
  • Constructively challenge teams by providing disconfirming information and encouraging

innovative problem solving

  • Understand pharmaceutical ecosystem and data sets including prescription (ex. IQVIA NPA), outlet (ex. IQVIA DDD) as well as medical and pharmacy claims (ex. Symphony Claims)
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with cross functional partners; proactively seeks buy-in and provides ongoing support to address business needs
  • Perform advanced analytics including longitudinal patient level analysis, time series modeling, customer segmentation and issue diagnostics in support of business questions
  • Create data analytics models to generate strategic actionable business insights using SQL, R, Python and Microsoft Excel

Basic Qualifications:

  • PhD or foreign equivalent degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Engineering (any), Science (any), Statistics or related field

OR

  • Master’s or foreign equivalent degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Engineering (any), Science (any), Statistics or related field plus 2 years of business experience

OR

  • Bachelor’s or foreign equivalent degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Engineering (any), Science (any), Statistics or related field plus 4 years of business experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in contracts and pricing, direct payer experience or value marketing and have a good foundational understanding of the US payer environment and a strong foundation in the U.S. healthcare market
  • Excellent conceptual problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to bring structure to

vaguely defined problems, pragmatic problem-solving approach, and manage execution

  • Exceptional written/oral communication skills and executive presence across functions and across different levels of leadership
  • Authoritative command of complexity and ambiguity; ability to see the big picture; ability to collect, digest and assemble information to enable relevant business analyses
  • Strong leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to influence different styles
  • 8+ years of healthcare experience in the biopharmaceutical industry, health care, and/or strategy consulting with specific experience and expertise in coverage, access and reimbursement drivers impacting the biopharmaceutical industry
  • High degree of analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Exhibits strong understanding of business strategies
