$92,206.40 - $191,505.60Position SummaryThe Director of Business Intelligence is primarily responsible for directing, managing and overseeing the Business Intelligence and Analytics team to develop and implement data driven strategies and solutions for the organization. Oversees the collection, analysis, and interpretation of complex data sets to support decision-making processes and improve patient care. Directs ongoing build, maintenance, support and services of the database and software environments, and processes required to ensure data quality and integrity. The position requires a dynamic experienced leader who has a strong background in clinical applications, data manipulation, clinical/financial/operational insights and healthcare datasets, and needs to be a change agent and have strong understanding of Service Management. This position is responsible for budget, HR duties and assisting with projects to the team.
Primary Key Performance AreasKPA 1 – Lead BI and analytics’ teams
Grow and lead a team of business intelligence and data analysts that provide insights, analysis, and reporting tools that help operations, clinical, finance, and senior leaders understand business performance and opportunities.
Develop and execute a comprehensive business intelligence and analytics strategy aligned with the practice's goals.
Lead the BI support team through the effective delivery of analytics solutions with quality and architectural integrity.
Overseeing the design and delivery of dashboards, reports and insights that analyze business function, key operations and performance metrics.
Data Management:
Oversee the collection, storage, and maintenance of data from various sources.
Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and security.
Implement data governance policies and best practices.
Analytics and Reporting:
Design and develop dashboards, reports, and visualizations to provide actionable insights.
Conduct advanced statistical analyses and predictive modeling.
Present findings to stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
Clinical and Operational Support:
Collaborate with clinical teams to identify opportunities for improving patient outcomes.
Analyze clinical data to support evidence-based decision-making.
Optimize operational processes through data-driven insights.
KPA 2 – IT Leadership
Management and leadership experience within an information technology context working and managing complex implementation projects including systems analysis, project management, resource allocation, budget development and vendor management.
Build a world class team that includes hiring new leaders as well as mentoring junior analysts and on how to use more advanced methods.
Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies in business intelligence and analytics.
Evaluate and implement new tools and technologies to enhance data capabilities.
Drive innovation in data analytics to support the organizational mission.
KPA 3 – Implement Best Practices
Developing functional and technical specifications, assessing business processes and implementing best practices.
Managing technical projects through coordinated project life cycle from analysis to implementation; focusing on data driven efforts and business intelligence best practices.
KPA 4 – Responsibility and Accountability
Demonstrate willingness to do whatever it takes to meet changing departmental and customer needs. Foster responsibility and accountability within all aspects of the department.
KPA 5 –Develop, Coach, and Motivate Staff
Develop, coach and motivate staff to extraordinary performance, addressing performance issues in a timely manner. Monitor and evaluate employee performance, prepares and administers performance evaluations.
Oversee training of new and existing staff and fosters teamwork to help them meet and/or exceed performance goals. Promote employee growth and involvement.
Leading, training, coaching and motivating the team to apply best practices while ensuring they meet and exceed goals.
Monitoring timelines for projects and initiatives to ensure smooth execution of day-to-day tasks.
Completing monthly executive summary to inform of team accomplishments, issues, initiatives and results.
Performs other duties and projects as assigned.
Education .
Bachelor’s degree in Business Analytics, Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Accounting, Finance, Management Information Systems, Healthcare Informatics or another related field.
In lieu of degree, 12+ years of experience is required or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certifications/Licenses
Industry certifications for BI tools or data science preferred.
Previous Experience
Experience in the healthcare industry/setting working with BI tools, SQL and clinical software applications strongly preferred.
Minimum of 5-7 years of experience with specific technologies and best practices in the following areas: data visualization and presentation, data integration, data modeling, query design, data validation/automation, data management, data architecture, reporting and analytics, and data warehouse management.
Five years of experience working with complex relational-database systems, including best practices for data modeling.
Advanced technical and business knowledge in software development life cycle, quality assurance, project management and other related disciplines/processes.
Five years of experience with BI tools such as Power BI, Microsoft SQL Server (including SSMS, SSAS, SSIS), Tableau, Python, Databricks, or similar data visualization and/or analytical tools.
Thorough knowledge of BI solutions in complex, multi-system environments; knowledge of database usage for BI purposes and trends in BI technologies for reporting and analysis; and broad understanding of higher education processes and complexities of enterprise data.
Proven track record in implementing applications and systems in multiple sites, vendor selection and installation.
A true understanding of the full Software Development Life Cycle from building a new product to upgrading and maintaining existing platforms.
Experience in interfacing with outsourced software partners to ensure quality of deliverables and alignment with core architecture.
Demonstrated ability as an effective leader and coach who understands how to successfully motivate and integrate into a team of talented IT professionals.
Hands on management of agile, iterative development spanning specification, prototyping, architecture, QA, operations and support.
A passion for improving and championing a strong culture that celebrates and supports its talent while fostering a collaborative and intellectually stimulating team spirit.
Ability to work well under pressure, handling multiple tasks and balancing multiple objectives, while consistently ensuring that priority objectives are met.

Deploy the necessary resources towards development and effectively align with the Product Design, Quality Assurance, and Technical Operations to support the business and product needs and increase efficiencies.
Help to champion and elevate our existing technology infrastructure by collaborating and executing on a long-term Technology Roadmap.
Refine client software development methodology by mentoring and guiding the team in the adoption and use of best practices and design patterns that are aligned with our product strategy.
Work with the management team to stay in front of business requirements by collaborating on a plan for how to scale the system before the business forecast demands.
