Job Description

We are seeking a skilled lead Data Ops Engineer with expertise in Data Ops or Data Engineering, SQL, system automation, and Python to join our team.  Responsibilities include designing the proper data architecture, implementing automation, and be the mentor and leader for the Data & Analytics team. Join us to drive innovation and operational excellence as we navigate the cutting edge.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

What you will be doing:

Data Ops and Engineering:

  • Focus on Snowflake administration:
    • Tasks
    • Shares
    • Integrations
    • Ingestion
    • Actions
    • RBAC
    • Optimizations
    • FinOps
  • Utilize Git for version control and collaboration on codebase.
  • Help design a scalable, reliable, and secure data architecture.
  • Build and integrate ELT and ETL workflows into our production environment.
  • Support and maintain existing legacy pipelines (Oracle, SQLServer, others).
  • Establish observability tools and practices to monitor deployment processes, data integrity, and system health.

 

Technical Leadership:

  • Identify opportunities to modernize our systems and tech stack, improve quality, and minimize technical debt.
  • Review team’s work, code, and architecture.
  • Articulate and lead technical issues, constraints, and risks; involve in critical decision-making in the data & analytics domain.
  • Be a role model for organizing and documenting critical information for the team.
  • Document procedures, configurations, and best practices to ensure knowledge sharing and repeatability of processes.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Technical Expertise
    • 5+ years of experience in Data Ops or Data Engineering.
    • Hands-on experience in writing highly complex SQL code, preferably in a legacy system such as Oracle or SQLServer, as well as Snowflake.
    • Intermediate expertise in Git and the integration of version control in a development lifecycle process.
    • Intermediate to advanced knowledge in data pipeline development.
    • Proficient in writing clean, robust Python code using coding best practices.
    • Experience with prompt engineering, especially using GitHub Copilot to co-author SQL queries and Python code.
    • Bonus: SnowPro Certification (or more advanced)

Leadership Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills for discussing complex technical issues with engineers and translating technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to decompose complex technical challenges and produce pragmatic solutions.
  • Ability to adapt and balance delivery, attention to detail with constraints and pragmatism.

Fortune Brands believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is Hiring Pay Range: $130,000 USD - $165,000 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based sales incentive plan.
