Your Opportunity

We are looking for a Senior Applied Machine Learning Engineer to join our fast-paced and growing Research team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in an applied research setting and is excited about building real-world, Arabic-first AI features that power Maqsam’s product.

As a Senior ML Engineer, you’ll play a central role in leading and executing major projects. You’ll handle ambiguity, prototype quickly, and help shape the future of AI capabilities across voice, speech, and language domains in Arabic.

Your Top Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy machine learning solutions for speech and NLP tasks including transcription, summarization, sentiment analysis, bots, and more.
• Lead full project cycles from ideation to production, collaborating across teams and functions.
• Translate ambiguous product ideas into well-scoped ML problems with practical, scalable solutions.
• Explore and validate new ideas through fast iteration and experimentation.
• Build and maintain robust LLM pipelines, including retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), agentic flows, and integrated guardrails for safe and reliable outputs.
• Own large initiatives and break them down into deliverable components, coordinating work with teammates as needed.
• Contribute to and maintain internal tooling, evaluation frameworks, and infrastructure supporting research and deployment.
• Stay up to date with relevant ML/NLP advancements and contribute knowledge to the team.

What We Expect from You

• Proven experience (2–4+ years preferred) in applied ML, with a focus on NLP or speech technologies.
• Strong foundation in ML principles, model training, evaluation, and deployment.
• Practical experience with Python and ML libraries (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow, HuggingFace).
• Experience with ML deployment in production environments (e.g., APIs, containers, cloud infrastructure).
• Strong problem-solving mindset and ability to handle ambiguity and complexity.
• Familiarity with MLOps and data engineering workflows is a strong plus.
• Arabic language familiarity or experience with Arabic NLP is a major advantage.
• Ability to work autonomously and lead high-impact initiatives from start to finish.
• Clear communication and documentation skills to collaborate with engineers, researchers, and product stakeholders.

Additional Information

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, AI, or a related field.
• Experience working in a startup environment or fast-moving R&D team is a plus.
• Experience in voice, speech, or multilingual systems.
• Prior experience mentoring teammates or leading technical discussions is a plus.
