Job Summary

Data is at the core of SCOR strategic plan Forward 2026 as one of its four enablers. As part of this ambition, the Data Platform team has a key role to play. 

Responsible of the technological stack & platform, the data delivery, the overall data architecture and the entreprise data model, the Data Platform team supports the delivery of analytical use cases with expertise (data engineering, data modeling, data artchitecture) and evolves & operates a state-of-the-art platform infrastructure stack, while ensuring the global consistency of data across SCOR information system. 

The Data Platform team, international and multi-cultural, mixes various profiles (data engineering, data modeling, data and platform architecture) to make SCOR the reinsurer of tomorrow.

As part of this team, the Lead Data Architect oversees the evolution of data architecture at entreprise level and ensures overall consistency of data architecture (data models, data flows, platform architecture) between SCOR IT Landscapeand SCOR Data Platform. You are responsible of the overall data architecture design choices, and ensures that its transactional and analytical implementations are aligned while serving their specific related needs.

The Lead Data Architect needs to:

Key duties and responsibilities

Under the responsibility of the Head of Data Platform, your mission as the lead Data Architect for the Group will be to:

 

1. Oversee the data architecture at entreprise level and its implementation:

  • Be warrant of the entreprise data model artefacts within SCOR information system, across business units and regionns, spearheading alignment and cohesion towards a Target Blueprint that implements SCORs Data Strategy
  • Drive forward the evolution of SCOR’s data model to shape  a state-of-the-art data-mesh, ensure this implementation is effective  to serve transactional and analytical use cases connecting the different company domains.
  • Keep oversight through rigorous discovery and documentation of data flows inwards and outwards the Data Platform, to ensure governance and maximize effectiveness.

2. Drive design data topics, in collaboration with with data leaders, as well as tech, entreprise and business architects to ensure the effectiveness and consistency of data architecture as :

  • Coordinate the Data Design Authority board, as the principal forum for design choices on data architecture, catering for the needs of the individual usecases, while fostering the target Data architecture strategic blueprint.
  • Advise as a Senior Expert on the relevant implementation of data architecture to serve transactional systems and analytical use cases.
  • Participate in the solutions technical review with other architects (technical architects, business architects, entreprise architects), especially under the data angle (end-to-end data flows & data structure).

 

3. Additional activities related to your day-to-day mission :

  • Adhere to state of the art practices (data-mesh architecture, gitflow, data quality standards, data privacy & governance policies)
  • Ensure a technological watch on data architecture and data platform solutions

Required experience & competencies

  • +7 years of experience as an expert data engineer, data modeler or data architect
  • Mastery of modern data architecture techniques, particularly of Data-mesh approach implementations (Domain-oriented decentralization for analytical data) 
  • Excellent understanding of the data management lifecycle
  • Knowledge of at least one data domain highly relevant to SCOR (Property & Casualty, Life & Health, Commercial Insurance, Finance, Risk)
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to work effectively with technical, entreprise and business architects
  • Strong communication skills and ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Understanding of modern data analytics & data science activities
  • Knowledge of data quality principles and data governance best practices
  • Knowledge on data privacy topics

Technical Skills :

  • Strong knowledge of data architecture patterns, particularly around domain-driven design
  • Strong knowledge in decisional data modeling (Kimball, Inmon, Data Vault concepts…) and associated good practices (slowly changing dimensions, point in time tables, chasm / fan trap management, change data capture management…)
  • Good level in SQL and/or Pyspark
  • Knowledge of Palantir Foundry and / or Databricks is a strong plus
  • Knowledge of CI / CD pipelines (AzureDevOps, Jenkins, Artifactory, Azure Container Registry…) is a plus

Required Education 

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, software or computer engineering, applied maths, physics, statistics, or a related field or equivalent experience
