Join Stryker Endoscopy's R&D Test team, where we collaborate closely with Design and Systems to experiment with early prototypes and refine product designs during new product development. Like Mythbusters, we quickly create fixtures to simulate real-world scenarios, identifying and solving issues early to ensure the best outcomes for customers and patients.
As a Principal Engineer, Test R&D you'll lead strategic testing initiatives, drive technical excellence, and shape the future of our products. We're looking for a visionary problem-solver who can transform challenges into opportunities and mentor the next generation of test engineers. You’ll identify areas of opportunity and work with the team to implement solutions to advance our testing coverage, efficiency, and scale for growth.
In this role, you'll spearhead the development of advanced test methodologies, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and play a crucial part in our product development lifecycle. Your expertise will be instrumental in ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of our impactful technologies. What You Will Do:
- Lead the electrical test team in their technical growth and development, building out strategy and test innovation initiatives both within the electrical test function, and in concert with other R&D architects, functional leaders, and business unit partners.
- Spark innovation in testing by identifying challenges by collaborating with technical and functional leaders.
- Architect solutions in a variety of areas including: test methodology, design for test, automation, simulation, tools/equipment, standards, industry best practices, etc.
- Contribute to product development in the concept & research phases to inform test innovation, design for test architecture, perform early experimentation, and establish preliminary test plans.
- Broaden your impact and growth by collaborating across the corporation, including annual global test summits, within the industry, and outside to ensure state of the art test methods.
- Support the team with advanced root cause activities when needed.
What You Need (Required Qualifications):
- Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Electrical, Computer, or Biomedical Engineering with at least 8 years of related experience or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications:
- Test engineering experience in medical device or other regulated industry including design controls and QMS knowledge
- Deep understanding of and experience with reliability testing, test automation development(e.g. LabView, Python, etc.), design for test, hardware in the loop testing, and statistics
- Strong knowledge and experience with video transport, data integrity and associated standards (HDMI, SDVoE, DVI, SDI, etc.)
- Ability to build collaborative relationships quickly
- Formal technical leadership and mentorship experience
- Technical depth in digital design, PCB construction and design, FPGA & firmware, power, and communication protocols such as I2C, Ethernet, etc.
- Technical breadth in video display technologies, GPU, ESD, thermal management, EMC, DSP, C/C#, wireless data transmission, and lasers.
