Job Description
Role Summary:
As an Investment Performance Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in evaluating and enhancing the performance of multi-sector, multi-manager portfolios. Your expertise will provide critical insights that drive investment strategies and decision-making processes. Collaborating closely with internal stakeholders, you will ensure the accuracy and integrity of performance data, support regulatory compliance, and contribute to the continuous improvement of performance measurement methodologies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Performance Analysis & Reporting
- Calculate, analyze, and report on investment performance for various portfolios, ensuring adherence to industry standards such as GIPS.
- Conduct performance attribution analyses to identify sources of portfolio returns and assess the impact of investment decisions.
- Prepare comprehensive performance reports for internal stakeholders and clients, providing clear insights and recommendations.
- Data Integrity & Quality Assurance
- Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of performance data across all reporting platforms.
- Develop and implement data validation processes to identify and correct discrepancies promptly.
- Process Improvement & Automation
- Identify opportunities to streamline performance measurement and reporting processes through automation and enhanced methodologies.
- Collaborate with IT and other departments to implement technological solutions that improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Regulatory Compliance & Reporting
- Support the preparation and submission of regulatory filings, ensuring compliance with investment-related regulations and standards.
- Stay abreast of changes in regulatory requirements and assess their impact on performance reporting practices.
- Stakeholder Communication & Collaboration
- Act as a subject matter expert, providing insights on performance results to internal stakeholders, clients, and investment teams.
- Foster strong relationships with portfolio managers, compliance officers, and other key stakeholders to facilitate effective communication and collaboration.
- Mentorship & Leadership
- Provide guidance and mentorship to members of the team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
- Lead by example, upholding the firm's values of integrity, teamwork, client focus, and excellence.
Qualifications, Skill and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Investments, Economics, Statistics, or a related field. Relevant professional certifications (e.g., CFA, FRM, CIPM) are highly desirable.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in investment performance analysis within a multi-manager or asset management environment.
- Strong proficiency in performance measurement methodologies, attribution analysis, and risk assessment techniques.
- Experience with performance measurement systems and tools; familiarity with data visualization software is a plus.
- Excellent analytical skills with keen attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to lead projects, manage multiple priorities, and work effectively under pressure.
- Proven track record of mentoring and developing junior staff.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or VBA for data analysis and process automation.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements affecting investment performance reporting.
- Experience in managing relationships with external vendors, service providers and internal stakeholders.
Financial Management and Control
Work within established systems to deliver prescribed outcomes for a designated area of financial control.
Risk Scenario Modeling
Analyze and assess the risks associated with products, individual applications, new business areas, and the market to quantify risk and ensure it is within the agreed risk appetite.
Data Collection and Analysis
Conduct research using primary data sources, and select information needed for the analysis of key themes and trends.
Financial Policies, Guidelines, and Protocols
Contribute to the development and delivery of financial policies, guidelines, and protocols to ensure the company complies with regulations and good financial practice.
Investment Management
Develop and amend investment models to provide input to senior colleagues and/or help manage assigned portfolios.
Recommendations
Advise managers how to apply a wide variety of existing procedures and precedents.
Internal Communications
Help others get the most out of internal communications systems by offering support and advice.
Information and Business Advice
Resolve queries from internal or external customers or suppliers by providing information on complex processes and the related policies, referring issues to others where necessary for interpretation of policy.
Document Preparation
Edit document in line with organizational style guidelines and prepare information for publication.
Internal Client Relationship Management
Build effective working relationships within the internal client organization, delivering high-quality professional services with guidance from senior colleagues.
Personal Capability Building
Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation, where relevant, to improve performance and fulfill personal potential. Maintain an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.
