Data Analyst, Internal Audit

Position Summary

Under the general direction of the Senior Director of Internal Audit (SDIA), the Data Analyst (DA) will lead the data analysis program for the Global Internal Audit team (IA).  This will include developing a portfolio of analytic solutions used both routinely by the department in executing audit reviews as well as developing ad-hoc analytics to support discrete use cases.  The DA will work closely with IA leadership to identify and assess opportunities for data analytics within upcoming audits, ensuring that the data analytics portfolio is prioritized and managed effectively to maximize resource utilization. The DA will have responsibility to perform testing of key reports used by management to execute controls or to perform key financial analysis to ensure the reports are complete and accurate.  The DA will interface with key business partners to stay up to date on the company’s data and reporting landscape.

Additionally, the DA will assist with identifying information technology risks and emerging technology trends and advise IA leadership on potential impact to the internal control environment or departmental planning. 

This position will need the ability to work independently without onsite direct supervision and to partner with global team members across different geographies.
 

Principal Responsibilities

•    Lead projects related to data sourcing and the development of tools to enhance the audit department’s capabilities, creating use cases, building data source repositories, and developing reusable data analytics products.  As part of the development of analytic products, the DA will follow developmental best practices including creating/maintaining the requisite design documentation.
•    Convert auditor needs and business processes into data analytics solutions, focusing on designing, developing, and executing repeatable and scalable solutions to support audit objectives.
•    Develop automation, data visualizations and dashboards to support Continuous Monitoring, Continuous Auditing, and broader audit processes and departmental transformation initiatives.
•    Perform ad-hoc data analysis to support discrete requests from IA leadership, business partners, external audit requests, or in support of compliance investigations
•    Perform key report testing to verify that reports used by management are complete and accurate.
•    Professional Development: Continue to develop and expand knowledge of the audit profession, data analytics practices, machine learning / AI, emerging IT trends, and our industry through self-study, research, and continuing education efforts.
•    Take a lead role working with IA leadership to identify opportunities to leverage new technologies to improve the quality and efficiency of IA processes.  This may include researching use cases for RPAs (robotic process automation), AI, and other digital assets.
•    Provide training to departmental colleagues on the use of analytical solutions and general Data Analysis skills set training.
•    Perform other duties as assigned.
 

Education / Experience Requirements

•    Bachelor's degree in in an Accounting, Auditing, Finance, Management Information Systems or Analytical field such as Data Science, Data Analytics, Computer Science, or Mathematics.  Master’s degree a plus.
•    At least five years of progressively more responsible experience in Data Analysis and/or Auditing
•    At least three years of experience in Data Analysis.  
•    Experience working with Data analytics tools and software such as SQL, Python, SAS, Power BI, Analysis for Office, Alteryx or Tableau which is crucial for extracting insights from large datasets
•    Experience working with SAP S4 Hana, SAP Hana Cloud, SAP Analytics Cloud, SAP Datasphere, a plus
•    Advanced in Microsoft office productivity tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Reporting tools, etc.)
•    Expierence in IT Audit & IT General Controls a plus.
 

Specialized Skills / Other Requirements

•    Proficiency in analytical, automation, and visualization tools and programming languages, with a proven track record of delivering repeatable analytical solutions.
•    Significant experience in data visualization and storytelling, with strong communication skills to guide decision-making, and persuade others
•    Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and database management systems 
•    Strong understanding of statistical concepts and techniques. 
•    Experience utilizing advanced analytics techniques to extract insights from complex datasets, perform predictive modeling. 
•    Evaluating, summarizing, organizing, and interpreting data.
•    Strong Project Management skills with the ability to simultaneously manage multiple responsibilities/tasks and shifting priorities under tight deadlines.
•    An understanding of IT General Controls (ITGC) to determine whether the controls are designed and operating effectively. Experience testing Key Reports.  Ensure test results are well-documented based on a complete and accurate understanding of the control and risk.
•    Able to initiate, promote and lead positive changes within a diverse organization. Able to overcome organizational and individuals’ resistance to the change effort.
•    Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills with all levels of the organization; ability to build positive and effective working relationships with all levels of the organization.
