Your Role at Batesville:

As an IT Manager, Data Engineering, you will be responsible for designing, developing and maintaining scalable data pipelines and architectures. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background and leadership ability experience in modernizing frameworks, upskilling data engineering teams and managing data transformations between on-premises and cloud data ecosystems.

  • The expected base salary range for this role is $125,000-$145,000 per year. Actual compensation within this range will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to qualifications, skills, experience, and location.
  • In addition to base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based bonuses or other forms of incentive compensation.

What You’ll Do:

  • Data Strategy & Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Lead and oversee the organization's data engineering modernization efforts, ensuring the development and delivery of scalable, efficient, and secure data ingestion, transformation and storage solutions. 
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, data science, and business intelligence, to ensure data solutions align with business objectives.
    • Enable Batesville’s AI, ML, and BI initiatives by building and optimizing high-quality, scalable, and reliable data pipelines.
    • Ensure seamless data integration across Batesville systems, orchestrating a unified, high-quality data ecosystem.
    • Oversee the transition to modern data engineering architectures. 
  • Operational Excellence & Team Leadership:
    • Manage and mentor a team of data engineers, providing guidance and support to foster professional growth and development.
    • Hands on leadership of data modernization efforts including the selection and implementation of innovative technologies to enhance data engineering capabilities.
    • Ensure data quality, integrity, and security across all data platforms and pipelines.
    • Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices in data engineering and technologies.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S./B.A.) or equivalent from a college or university in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; and a minimum of 10 years related data engineering experience and/or training with at least 3 of those years leading high performance teams; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Deep expertise with modern data engineering technologies, (e.g. Kafka, Spark, dbt, Airflow, Databricks), and cloud-based data platforms (preferably Azure).
  • Proven experience in leading data engineering modernization efforts across on-premises and cloud data ecosystems.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a multitude of data sources and structures (API, XML, JSON, parquet, etc.).
  • Experience with Oracle (JDE, Oracle CX, Oracle Eloqua) and other source systems (OneStream, SAP Commerce Cloud, GA4, Just Call, etc.) or similar technologies.
  • Experience with Informatica and cloud-based data ingestion services.
  • Strong understanding of data architecture, data modeling, and ETL/ELT processes.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time.

  • Previous experience working in a remote setting.
