Established in 1911, the University of Hong Kong (HKU) is the territory’s oldest institute of higher learning and also an internationally recognized, research led, comprehensive university.Applications are invited for appointment as Post-doctoral Fellow/Senior Research Assistant (holding the functional title of Senior System Engineer) in the Department of Architecture (Ref.: 531871), to commence as soon as possible, on a one- to three-year temporary contract, with the possibility of renewal subject to funding availability and satisfactory performance.
The University of Hong Kong Healthy High Density Cities Lab has secured a General Research Fund (GRF) grant for studying infectious airborne disease transmission in relation to urban and building-level airflow paths.
Applicants should possess a PhD degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or related disciplines. Those with a Master’s degree and at least 1 year’s post-qualification relevant experience may be appointed as Senior Research Assistant. They should also have:
- prior technical project management experience and excellent communication skills in English;
- expertise in Artificial Intelligence based Computational Fluid Dynamics frameworks;
- knowledge of physics informed neural networks (PINN) and explainable machine learning (EML) frameworks;
- experience in related technologies including large-scale data analysis, deep learning, Python, PyTorch; and
- the ability to conduct research in a logical, detail-oriented, and self-motivated manner.
The appointee will help lead a research team to conduct data analysis for different types of data, including infection data, aerosol simulation data, airflow data, as well as the development of an analysis pipeline.
