Assoc Data Scientist - GD08BE

This is a new entry level role with the Small Business Direct Marketing organization.  I The person will have a data science mindset while applying those skills withing the marketing organization.  The Analyst will report to the Director of Media Planning and Reporting/Analytics. This position sits within the Small Commercial Marketing team, but the individual will work directly the AD of Data/Analytics and with multiple teams across the organization to understand data needs, test design, and business value.  As a key member of the Strategic Analytics and Data team, you will utilize your technical knowledge and analytical mindset to provide insightful and actionable business intelligence through analytics.

WORK ARRANGEMENTS:

This role can have a Hybrid or Remote work arrangement.  Candidates who live near one of our office locations (Hartford, CT, San Antonio, TX, Lake Mary, FL, Phoenix, AZ, Naperville, IL) will have the expectation of working in an office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).   Candidates who do not live near an office will have a remote work arrangement, with the expectation of coming into an office as business needs arise. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop reports, metrics, and analysis to guide business planning.  Requires capability to assemble and analyze data from a variety of internal and external sources.

  • Translate analytical findings into actionable steps that improve business results.

  • Develop marketing forecasts and dashboards in support of key business programs including cross sell, advertising campaigns, industry verticals and targets (micro).

  • Monitor and analyze marketing trends across lines of business.

  • Partner to obtain necessary data to facilitate program analysis.

  • Support development of data & analytic infrastructure.

  • Adhoc analyses to support both the marketing and enterprise departments

  • Partner with Marketing pr9ogrma mangers to inform planning decisions through data analysis, trending and modeling activities. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or other related quantitative fields (or equivalent work experience) is required.

  • Programing/Problem solving mindset required (Experience with Oracle, SAS or Snowflake)

  • Experience with Python, R and Tableau encouraged.

  • Superior Excel skills.

  • An analytical mindset combined with a desire to learn the broader business is essential.

  • Able to work collaboratively in a matrix environment.

  • Ability to build cooperative, productive relationships with internal clients and vendors and interact effectively with all levels of management.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to interact within all levels of the organization.

  • Looking for the right individual to grow and learn within the role as the department expands in the next 1-3 yrs.

  • For full-time, occasional, part-time, or remote positions: (1) high speed broadband internet service is required, we do not recommend or support DSL, wireless, Wi-Fi, Hotspots, Fiber without a modem and Satellite; (2) Internet provider supplied modem/router/gateway is hardwired to the Hartford issued computer with an ethernet cable; and (3) 100MB download/10MB upload.  Contact/Call center role using Genesys softphone and Citrix/ATO users.  Users who participate in frequent Teams video conferences, as well as those who download/upload large file content throughout the workday.

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$81,040 - $121,560
