Research Intern (f/m/d) – xLSTM & Sequence Modeling

Are you passionate about AI and eager to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic research and engineering environment? Our AI Research & Engineering team is currently offering a part-time or full-time internship (duration 3–6 months) with the possibility of continued employment. The start date is flexible, so you can begin whenever it suits you best!

As a Research Intern at NXAI, you'll dive deep into xLSTM and related architectures with the goal of building more efficient and expressive sequence models 🤖.

Your responsibilities include:

• Exploring and implementing variations of xLSTM and novel recurrent architectures

• Running comparative experiments with Transformer and Mamba-based models

• Contributing to open-source repos and internal tools

• Analyzing performance trade-offs (latency, accuracy, memory footprint)

• Presenting findings in team discussions and internal research talks

Requirements

You may be a good fit if you:

• are currently enrolled in a M.Sc. or Ph.D. program in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Computer Science, or a related technical field

• have solid understanding of deep learning fundamentals, especially in sequence modeling, optimization, and neural network architectures

• have hands-on experience with PyTorch or JAX

• have a collaborative mindset and strong intrinsic motivation to to contribute to cutting-edge AI research and help shape real-world applications

Bonus points:

• First practical experience through internships or contributions to ML open-source projects

• Prior experience with xLSTM, Mamba, S4, or similar architectures

• Knowledge of distributed training or efficient inference
