The Senior Data Specialist works closely with the Data Management Team as well as DSD, and other business customers. The Senior Data Specialist will be expected to help gather business requirements for various data projects across IT, provide testing support for newly developed reports, and participate in data governance and data strategy initiatives.

Salary Grade (14)  83,711 - 106,732 - 129,753 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Act as a liaison between IT and business customers.

Provide on-going support to programs, projects, and groups that collect data and manage how data is shared between projects and departments.

Gather, document, and communicate relevant requirements related to creation or modification of published reports, or to the data marts that support reporting needs.

Perform quality assurance testing on reports or data marts to ensure they have been developed in line with the documented requirements before moving to production.

Create and monitor user stories and defects related to data and reporting in a Project Management tool, such as Rally.

Provide regular updates on current project status and outstanding items.

Participate in prioritization discussions for data-related work and defect resolution to best support business initiatives.

Serve as an expert on reporting and data quality within the IT Data Management team. Identify process improvements, reporting tool enhancements, or recommendations on new ways data could be leveraged to support business goals.

Create ad hoc queries or reports as requested.

BS/BA or Equivalent in Computer Science or another related field

5+ years of relevant data analysis experience

Strong computer skills including familiarity with advanced functions in Excel (pivot tables, conditional logic, etc.)

Ability to independently write advanced SQL queries

Familiarity with relational database structure and experience querying databases

Experience using business intelligence reporting tools, such as Cognos, Power BI, or Tableau

Excellent organizational skills

Efficient and detail oriented

Ability to effectively communicate cross functionally
