Position Overview

We are hiring a R&D Scientist Intern - Data Scientist. The R&D Scientist Intern - Data Scientist will provide R&D support of projects in product and process development by conducting laboratory research under the guidance of a supervisor.

Job Description

Responsibilities 

• Plan laboratory experiments in the area of Analytics and Data Sciences
• Develop and create new experimental framework for data collection, interpretation and analysis to support new product and/or technology
• Transfer data into new formats as needed for appropriate
• Analyze data and build statistical models
• Prepare formal reports and presentations for group meetings
• Actively participate in group/project meetings
• Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical publications
• Good Documentation Practices & Good Laboratory Practices

Required Skills/Education 

• Must be at least a 2nd year Bachelor's student and a returning student for the next semester or higher level education.
• General lab safety
• Ability to effectively learn and acquire new knowledge and skills
• Problem solving capabilities to accomplish tasks
• Ability to use professional concepts to perform assigned work and solve complex problems
• Ability to demonstrate potential for technical proficiency, scientific creativity, collaboration with others and independent thought
• Understanding of mammalian cell culturing, experience a plus- need to understand where the data is coming from. 
• Programming knowledge with languages such as Python, R, and others
• General knowledge of commonly used experimental/research concepts, practices, and procedures.
• Broad and extensive knowledge of Bioinformatics and Data Science
• General knowledge of computer systems and productivity software.
• General knowledge of GMP and GLP procedures.
• Ability to speak and read English.
• Good oral and written communication skills.

Salary and Benefits:

• For California, the base hourly range for this position is $19.00 - $25.00/ hour. Compensation for the successful candidate will depend on various factors (e.g., qualifications, education, prior experience, location, etc.).
