Sr. Production and NPI Planner – Semiconductor (Data Analytics Focus)

Position Overview:

Our company, a leader in semiconductor chip design and manufacturing, is seeking a strategic and data-driven Sr. production and NPI Planner to oversee end-to-end semiconductor production planning while leveraging data analytics to optimize operations, improve decision-making, and enhance production efficiency.

This role requires extensive experience in NPI planning, production scheduling, foundry and OSAT management, cost optimization, and customer engagement, combined with strong data analytics skills to extract insights from raw data. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of semiconductor manufacturing processes, including wafer fabrication, bumping, probe/test, assembly, and final test, and be highly proficient in data analysis, ERP systems, and reporting tools.

Beyond managing production execution, this role requires a strong analytical mindset to identify trends in revenue forecasts, supply chain performance, on-time delivery, and yield trends, providing actionable insights for continuous improvement.

What You'll Do

NPI & Semiconductor Production Planning:

  • Manage the full NPI lifecycle, from tape-out, wafer starts, wafer processing, bumping, probe/test, assembly, and final test to volume production ramp.
  • Develop and execute detailed production schedules for engineering builds, prototype runs, and mass production ramp-up, ensuring smooth transitions between phases.
  • Monitor and analyze production risks, adjusting plans to mitigate delays and optimize cost, quality, and yield.
  • Collaborate with internal engineering, program management, and supply chain teams to align production plans with technical and business requirements.
  • Navigate dynamic production environments, knowing when to escalate, adjust priorities, or push manufacturing partners for execution.
  • Track and manage production queues, ensuring timely execution at foundries and OSATs while proactively addressing bottlenecks.

Customer & Supplier Management:

  • Act as the primary customer-facing planning lead, providing real-time production updates, managing delivery commitments, and resolving supply chain issues.
  • Work directly with foundries and OSAT partners to secure production slots, optimize capacity allocation, and manage lead times.
  • Drive supplier accountability on cycle times, yield improvement, and cost efficiency through data-driven decision-making.
  • Resolve material constraints, proactively addressing issues related to wafer starts, assembly/test capacity, and logistics.

Data Extraction & Analytics for Production Optimization:

  • Work closely with IT teams to extract raw data from ERP, production databases, and quality control systems to analyze production efficiency, cycle time trends, and bottlenecks.
  • Conduct data-driven analysis of revenue forecasts, shipping reports, on-time delivery rates, and yield performance, translating insights into actionable strategies.
  • Identify patterns, trends, and correlations in manufacturing performance, supplier lead times, and demand forecasts to drive continuous improvement.
  • Develop advanced dashboards and reports to monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), forecast accuracy, and supply chain health.
  • Use SQL, Tableau, Power BI, or similar tools to visualize data and present findings to management and stakeholders.

COGS & Cost Optimization:

  • Track and optimize COGS from NPI to mass production and EOL, identifying areas for cost savings and yield improvement.
  • Optimize wafer procurement, packaging/testing costs, and supply chain logistics while meeting quality and delivery objectives.
  • Analyze cost variances, implement corrective actions, and negotiate pricing with suppliers to maintain profitability and cost competitiveness.

Production & Inventory Control:

  • Develop accurate, data-driven production forecasts to align with capacity constraints, customer demand, and inventory strategies.
  • Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) within the ERP system to support production planning and cost tracking.
  • Demonstrate deep understanding of ERP systems, including BOM structuring, data maintenance, and the ability to run operational and planning reports to support cross-functional decision-making.

What You'll Do

  • 5+ years of semiconductor production planning experience, with a focus on NPI execution, mass production, and foundry/OSAT management.
  • Strong knowledge in semiconductor manufacturing processes, including wafer fabrication, bumping, probe/test, assembly, and final test.
  • Strong understanding of end-to-end logistics processes including domestic and international shipping, customs clearance, and freight terms (e.g., Incoterms).
  • Proven NPI planning experience, with deep knowledge of key phases from tape-out to production ramp and experience managing queue prioritization and critical decision-making.
  • Data analytics proficiency, with experience extracting raw data and generating actionable insights.
  • Ability to work in a fast-moving, dynamic environment, making real-time decisions on production priorities and escalation paths.
  • Proven customer-facing experience, effectively managing supply chain challenges, production updates, and delivery commitments.
  • Strong cost management skills, with expertise in COGS optimization, yield improvement, and supplier negotiations.
  • Hands-on experience with ERP and production planning tools (SAP, Oracle, etc.).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Computer Science, Business, or related field. Advanced degree or certification in Data Analytics or Business Intelligence is a plus.
