Reporting To: Vice President of Servicing Analytics

Compensation: $70,000 - $80,000 / year


Description

Verus Mortgage Capital is seeking a skilled Fixed Income Analyst with experience in Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) and using SQL.  The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in fixed income mortgage portfolio management and asset management combined with the ability to analyze datasets, automate processes, develop initial models in Excel using VBA and develop initial dashboards in PowerBI.  This role requires strong analytical skills, understanding of programming constructs and SQL, the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders and a strong fundamental understanding of mortgage finance.  


Responsibilities and Duties:

Data Analysis & Reporting
  • Collect, clean, and analyze large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and insights.
  • Develop interactive dashboards and reports using SQL, Excel VBA, Power BI, or other BI tools.
  • Design and maintain automated reporting processes to improve efficiency.
  • Interpret data to support business decisions and performance improvements.
VBA & Automation
  • Write and optimize VBA scripts to automate repetitive tasks and improve data processing efficiency.
  • Develop macros and custom functions to enhance Excel-based tools and reports.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot existing VBA applications to ensure optimal functionality.
Business Intelligence & Process Improvement
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into analytical solutions.
  • Provide actionable insights and recommendations based on data findings.
  • Conduct thorough user acceptance testing for process enhancements.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve operational efficiencies through automation.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • Understanding of discounted cash flows and fixed income calculations.  
  • Hands-on experience in Visual Basic programming, SQL, and data automation projects.
  • 2+ years of experience as a Data Analyst, Business Analyst, or related role in fixed income or mortgage finance
