Description

Are you passionate about technology and data, skilled in enhancing streamlined systems, finding solutions, and eager to support a mission-driven team with your excellent people skills?

Alternative Wellness Services (AWS), a growing behavioral health agency, is seeking a second collaborative, team-player who is also a detail-oriented Technology & Data Specialist to join our expanding team!  This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who loves diving into systems, making data meaningful, implementing improvements, and providing essential, friendly tech support. You'll play an important role, requiring significant interagency collaboration and patience (as our staff are people-focused first!), ensuring our team has the tools, data, and efficient processes they need to succeed and provide the best care. As the first point of tech support, you'll have the chance to quickly help colleagues by providing temporary solutions (like a loaner computer) while you troubleshoot or coordinate with our vendor – a great tech position if you enjoy problem-solving and project management!

About the Role:

As our second Technology & Data Specialist, you won't just fix problems – you'll be a key driver in optimizing how AWS uses technology and data. You'll become a go-to expert on the technology that powers our agency, thriving on understanding systems, enhancing workflows, and finding innovative solutions through collaboration. You'll enjoy harvesting data from various sources, merging it into insightful reports, and supporting our providers by ensuring they can quickly access the information needed to do their jobs efficiently and effectively.

A significant part of your role will involve listening patiently to team feedback regarding technology improvement needs, collaborating effectively with vendors (like our EHR provider) to implement requested changes, and rigorously testing data and functionality to ensure accuracy before rollout. You will develop subject matter expertise across our core systems (like Paylocity, our EHR, Google Workspace), create and update user-friendly manuals, and take the lead on exciting projects, such as selecting and implementing a new helpdesk ticketing system. You'll also be the friendly, approachable first point of contact for colleagues experiencing hardware issues, providing prompt support and escalating complex problems to our managed IT vendor when necessary. This dynamic role offers many engaging projects and the chance to make a real impact!

What You'll Do:

  • Become an internal subject matter expert (SME) on AWS's core technology platforms and software applications (including Paylocity, EHR, Google Workspace, and future systems).
  • Harvest data from various systems, merge datasets, and develop/manage insightful reports using spreadsheet software (including advanced formulas and functions).
  • Support providers and staff by facilitating efficient access to necessary data and reports.
  • Gather and analyze feedback from staff regarding technology needs and potential system improvements through active listening and collaboration.
  • Collaborate effectively with our EHR vendor, managed IT vendor, and other technology partners to implement system enhancements and customizations.
  • Create, maintain, and update clear user manuals and documentation for key systems.
  • Thoroughly test system changes and data accuracy before deployment.
  • Lead the selection and implementation of a new helpdesk ticketing system.
  • Provide prompt, helpful, patient, and clear first-tier technical support to staff for hardware issues and basic software questions.
  • Effectively diagnose technical problems, resolving first-level issues and escalating significant hardware or system-wide problems to our managed IT vendor according to established procedures.
  • Collaborate closely with team members across departments and vendors to ensure smooth technology operations (note: our managed IT vendor handles core system/computer updates).

What We're Looking For:

  • A genuine enthusiasm for technology, process improvement, and a desire to learn new systems deeply.
  • Strong proficiency with spreadsheet software (like Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets), especially using formulas, functions, data manipulation, and reporting techniques.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with an aptitude for finding solutions and streamlining processes.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills – ability to explain technical concepts clearly and patiently, build rapport, and gather user feedback effectively.
  • A strong customer-service orientation, empathy, and a helpful, positive attitude.
  • Ability to work independently while also thriving in a collaborative team environment.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively.
  • Comfort providing basic hardware troubleshooting.

Bonus Points For:

  • Experience in a similar IT support, data specialist, or systems analyst role.
  • Experience within a healthcare or behavioral health setting.
  • Familiarity with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems or other clinical software.
  • Experience with reporting tools such as Tableau or basic database concepts.
  • Experience implementing new software or systems.

Why Join AWS?

  • Be part of a supportive team dedicated to making a difference in the community serving people with Behavioral Health needs.
  • Join a team of engaging, fun people who truly care about their work and each other.
  • Enjoy great benefits and participate in 4 all-agency events annually designed for connection and fun across our various locations.
  • Play a key role in optimizing technology and data use within a growing agency.
  • Opportunity for professional growth and to become a vital technical resource.
  • Work in a dynamic environment with a choice of location in Biddeford or Portland.
  • Engage in diverse and meaningful projects with a direct impact on agency operations.
