The Data Engineer is responsible for cleaning, managing, and sharing data that guides business decisions. Using ETL tools you will gather data from a variety of sources, checking for anomalies, automating processes, and generally making it easier for business stakeholders to generate valuable insights. This position will collaborate with internal and external organizations to capture requirements, design, create, document, manage, and fulfill requests for on-going and/or ad-hoc reports, dashboards, and scorecards.

Duties and Responsibilities

Data Management and Integration

  •  Design, develop, and maintain ETL processes to gather data from various sources
  • Ensure data quality by checking for anomalies and implementing data validation rules
  • Manage and maintain large datasets, ensuring data integrity and availability
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify data requirements and develop data models to meet those needs

Data Governance 

  • Collaborate with data stakeholders to identify and document data assets, data lineage, and data quality metrics
  • Develop and maintain data catalogs, metadata repositories, and other data governance tools to support data discovery and management
  • Enforce data governance policies and procedures to ensure data quality, security, and compliance

Collaboration and Stakeholder Management

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders (e.g. business users, analysts) to understand data requirements and develop solutions to meet those needs
  • Work with external stakeholders (e.g. vendors, partners) to integrate data from external sources
  • Communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders, ensuring that data insights are accessible to a broad audience
  • Document data processes, data models, and reporting solutions to ensure knowledge sharing and continuity.

Job Qualifications and Requirements:

  • This position requires a Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Agri-Business, Economics, Finance, Business or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server
  • Databricks and DBT experience 
  • 2 plus years of experience with Python programing in a business setting.
  • 2 plus years of experience in Finance related informatics, performance measurement, or analysis with strong relational database SQL skills.
  • 1 plus years of experience using Microsoft Azure product to perform ETL.
  • Familiar with Databricks Unity catalog
  • We offer hybrid work options after two weeks of employment with Farm Credit East. Hybrid work options are determined based on job role and balancing the needs of the customers, the team, and individual work performance. This will be reviewed based on manager discretion.

 

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Salary Range: $80,000 to $100,000 commensurate with experience
  • Short-Term Incentive to reward business results
  •  Retirement Contributions :
    • 401k match up to 6% of salary; or for those unable to take full advantage of the 401(k) match, verified student loan payments may qualify for an employer match in your 401(k) up to 6% of salary
    • Defined Contribution retirement plan funded at 2-9% of salary depending on years of service
  • Time Off:
    • 15-25 days of vacation leave per year, depending on years of service
    • 12 days of holiday leave per year
    • 7.5 days of sick leave in your first year, followed by 12 days of sick leave per year thereafter; unlimited rollover of unused sick leave year to year
