Junior Data Engineer

As a Junior Data Engineer at Bison Transport, you will be an integral part of the team working on the design, development, and maintenance of our data infrastructure. You will work under the guidance of senior engineers, learning best practices for building scalable data pipelines, optimizing our data warehouse, and integrating new tools and technologies into our growing data ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

• Support Data Pipeline Development: Assist in the creation and maintenance of ETL/ELT pipelines using tools like Matillion and DBT, ensuring that data flows smoothly across systems.
• Assist with Data Warehouse Optimization: Help optimize our data warehouse in Snowflake to ensure efficient data storage and retrieval.
• Learn Data Modeling: Work with senior engineers to understand dimensional modeling and assist in the implementation of best practices for data governance and quality.
• Data Integration: Support the integration of new systems and data sources using DBT and other integration tools.
• Collaborate and Learn: Work closely with senior team members to gain hands-on experience and mentorship, contributing to ongoing projects and development efforts.
• Contribute to Data Quality: Monitor data quality and help implement processes to ensure accuracy and reliability.
• Adapt to New Challenges: Embrace opportunities to grow in a dynamic environment and contribute to the team's success.

Qualifications:

• At least 2 years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a related role.
• Familiarity with data engineering tools such as Matillion, DBT, Snowflake, and Snaplogic (or similar).
• Basic programming skills in Python, SQL, or other scripting languages.
• Strong understanding of relational databases and basic data modeling concepts.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team and a willingness to learn from senior engineers.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
• A passion for working with data and a desire to grow within the field.
