The program at a glance

  • Twelve months program: 3 rotations of 4 months each

Quantitative Investing & Data Analytics Track

Participating in the Quantitative Investing & Data Analytics Track of the Scalable Capital Graduate Program prepares you for a career in our Quantitative Investment, Financial Engineering and Data Science teams.

Become a Financial Engineer and Data Scientist. Investigate global financial markets, develop systematic trading strategies and use state-of-the-art technology to manage scalable investment solutions for thousands of clients’ portfolios. Contribute to the Scalable Capital Risk Management technology and bring innovative and data driven trading strategies to life with minimum costs under real world frictions like trading costs and taxes.

Rotation 1: Financial Engineering

Start your program in Financial Engineering: As part of the team, you will contribute to the development of fully automated trading algorithms managing billions in assets based on quantitative evidence, while supporting the creation of discretionary and B2B wealth allocation models focused on risk, cost, and tax optimization. Collaboration on smart rebalancing and cash-flow management strategies in a serverless architecture, as well as participation in our European Investor Exchange (EIX) initiatives, will be aspects of your role. Our team is dedicated to enhancing hedging strategies for efficient market-making and ensuring regulatory compliance, alongside the development of interactive web dashboards for trade monitoring, historical analysis, and model validation. The team leverages its expertise to provide clients with unique insights typically available only to institutional investors. For instance, the Smart Predict feature delivers execution probabilities for limit and stop orders, generated by an advanced machine learning model.

What are you going to learn

You will learn how to bridge the gap between research and practice. You will learn how to apply best practices in software development and seamlessly integrate production level software into the R&D environment. You will understand agile, learn how to deliver scientific ideas fast and benefit from a working culture in which the best ideas win.

Rotation 2: Data Analytics

In our Data Science Team, you will develop and contribute ideas for data-driven generation of significant business value. Implement modern data science models to produce insights to our constantly growing amount of structures and unstructured data. Select and prepare data from various sources needed for machine learning models. Convert data science ideas and models into productive data pipelines and tools on our AWS infrastructure. Be part of a motivated agile team with highly ambitious and skilled people in our growing data analytics department.

What are you going to learn

Learn how data science models bring business value for one of the fastest growing Fintech Companies in Europe. Become proficient in building scalable and automated data analyses using a state-of-the-art tech stack (Python, SQL, AWS, automated job scheduling, serverless computing). Get skilled in developing productive data pipelines and measuring success of data science use cases.

Rotation 3: Elective (Wealth Management / Trading / Engineering) 

The third rotation in our Graduate Program is an elective one. This means, you can choose, e.g., from Wealth Management, Trading, or Engineering depending on your personal preference. 

Qualifications

  • Excellent university degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g. statistics, financial mathematics, computational finance, engineering or a similar field)
  • Experience from internships in the area of quantitative investing, software engineering, investment management and/or data science
  • A strong knowledge in econometrics, statistical sciences and stochastic methods as well as risk theory with an emphasis on portfolio optimization
  • Good programming skills in Python
  • Confident in programming with modern data science libraries such as tensorflow, scikit-learn, pytorch
  • Previous projects involving software development, software design, relational databases and version control software
  • Familiarity with financial market data (e.g. Bloomberg, CRSP, FRED)
  • Willingness to invest into personal learning and career development outside of work
  • Fluent English language skills (written & spoken)
