Position Overview:

The Staff Accountant will assist the accounting team in preparation of daily general ledger accounting and period-end close tasks. This position involves executing general ledger activities, supporting budgeting and forecasting activities, assisting with accounts receivable and accounts payable functions as necessary, and maintaining fixed asset records. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively within a dynamic finance team.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial data.
  • Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes by preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and compiling supporting documentation.
  • Monitor and analyze variances in financial data to identify trends and potential issues
  • Assist with ad-hoc accounting projects and resolve issues arising from daily accounting operations for assigned areas
  • Identify opportunities to enhance financial processes and implement best practices to increase efficiency and accuracy
  • Maintain accurate records of fixed asset acquisitions, disposals, and depreciation schedules; reconcile fixed asset subledger to the general ledger

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, complemented by a minor, concentration, or demonstrated coursework in data analytics, data science, computer science, or a closely related field
  • 0-2 years of accounting experience
  • Effective analytical and problem-solving ability with a high level of attention to detail
  • Excellent writing and oral communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Demonstrated interest or proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or SQL

Working Environment:

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee will work under typical office conditions, with the noise level being usually quiet to moderate. Occasional exposure to outside environment when traveling to off-site locations for training/events or other outside locations as requested.

Position Type / Expected Hours of Work

Full-time / 40 hours per week, with some overtime as required.

Travel:

Travel Is not anticipated for this role but may be necessary in rare cases.
