Role Overview

Powtoon’s software engineering team in Tel Aviv is looking for an experienced Senior Full Stack Developer who can drive both our product development and the integration of cutting-edge AI tooling into our workflow. In this role, you'll work across the stack on our core web application – developing sleek front-end features in React/TypeScript and robust back-end services in Python/Django. You will play a key role in designing new features and scaling a platform that serves millions of users.

Beyond building features, you will be a champion of AI-driven development. We’re seeking someone with a passion for modern developer tools and AI – from using generative AI for code and test generation to implementing intelligent automation in our CI/CD pipeline. You’ll help adapt Powtoon’s architecture and engineering practices to make the most of tools like GitHub Copilot, codex, cursor, v0 and custom LLMs, infusing the team with modern AI-powered coding practices. Software development is evolving rapidly with AI, and in this position you will keep us at the forefront of this evolution.

This is a full-time, on-site role based in Tel Aviv, Israel (with some hybrid work flexibility). You’ll join our collaborative R&D team—working closely with fellow engineers, product managers, and designers—and play a key part in shaping both our product and our development culture for years to come.

Responsibilities

• Full-Stack Development: Design, implement, and maintain features across the entire tech stack – from responsive UIs in React/TypeScript to robust backend services in Python/Django.
  
  
• AI-Driven Tool Integration: Lead the integration of AI-powered coding tools into our development process (e.g. GitHub Copilot, cursor, codex, custom LLM-based solutions). Use these tools to automate code generation, improve test coverage, and accelerate development workflows.
  
  
• Code Quality & Testing: Ensure high code quality through code reviews and extensive testing (unit, integration, end-to-end). Leverage AI to help generate test cases and catch edge cases early, boosting the reliability of our codebase.
  
  
• Architectural Improvement: Collaborate on the design of system architecture, ensuring our application remains scalable, maintainable, and easy to work with for both humans and AI (e.g. structuring code for better AI assistance and future growth).
  
  
• Cross-Team Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers (frontend, backend, DevOps) to plan and deliver features from concept to production. Bridge the frontend-backend gap to provide a seamless user experience.
  
  
• Mentorship & Knowledge Sharing: Mentor developers and share best practices – including training the team on effective use of AI development tools. Foster a culture of continuous improvement, learning, and innovation within the team.
  
  
• Workflow Enhancement: Continuously refine our development workflow and CI/CD pipelines. Identify opportunities to use AI or automation to make coding, testing, and deployment more efficient and reliable.

Requirements

• Senior-Level Experience: 5+ years of professional software development experience, with a track record of building and shipping web applications at scale.
  
  

• Proficiency in Python & Django: Deep experience developing backend applications using Python (with frameworks like Django). You write clean, efficient, and scalable server-side code.
  
  
• Proficiency in TypeScript & React: Strong hands-on experience with front-end development using JavaScript/TypeScript and modern frameworks (especially React). Ability to build rich, responsive user interfaces that are maintainable.
  
  
• AI/Automation Skills: Demonstrated history of using AI or automation tools to improve software development. For example, experience with code generation tools, AI-assisted testing, or using platforms like GitHub Copilot to accelerate your workflow.
  
  
• AI Integration Experience: Track record of integrating AI-driven tools or workflows into a development team or project architecture. You know how to evaluate and implement new developer productivity tools and get a team onboard with modern practices.
  
  
• Strong Software Fundamentals: Solid understanding of software design principles, data structures, and algorithms. Experience with version control (Git), RESTful APIs, and CI/CD pipelines. Familiarity with agile methodologies and DevOps best practices.
  
  
• Problem-Solving Mindset: Ability to troubleshoot complex issues across the stack and optimize performance when needed. Comfortable working with and improving a large, evolving codebase.
  
  
• Team Player: Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team. Comfortable mentoring others and sharing knowledge in a constructive way.
  
  
• Language & Location: Fluent in English (our working language). Able to work on-site in Tel Aviv, Israel (hybrid work model available) – candidates must be local or willing to relocate.
