Information Systems and Cyber Division (ISCD) staff couple the latest in information system technologies, such as elastic compute clouds, containerization, microservices, real-time operating systems, and visualization frameworks, with expertise in cyber security, software architecture, software engineering, data science, Artificial Intelligence, process improvement, and software development to deliver responsive, resilient, high-performance software intensive systems to our Intelligence Community, DoD, and civilian customers.
We are looking for a Machine Learning Engineer – ML Applications/Generative AI (Sr.MTS/Engineering Specialist – Computer Engineering | AI/ML) who can lead development of publicly available and Aerospace models into deployed applications to serve a variety of needs across the space industry. This individual will have a significant role in defining the Data Science and AI Department’s ML Platform and software development practices and help charter its scope relative to other departments within ISCD.
Work Model
This is a full-time position based in El Segundo (CA), Colorado Springs (CO), and Chantilly (VA) offering a hybrid work model that combines 3 regular onsite workdays and remote flexibility as the business needs allow.
What You’ll Be Doing
This role is for an individual who can join us in revolutionizing how Data Science and ML development is conducted within the company by helping DSAID define and streamline its ML platform, application interfaces, and deployment processes.
Developing, deploying, and maintaining machine-learning applications to serve a variety of government, commercial, and internal customers in the space industry.
Contributing as a technical lead to DSAID’s internal ML platform, code/pipeline repositories, and our software/ML engineering best practices.
Proactively engaging with other departments within and external to ISCD to determine application interfaces and use-cases.
Leading and mentoring junior staff in reviewing code and adoption of best practices.
What You Need to be Successful
Minimum Requirements for the Machine Learning Engineer – Generative AI (Senior Member of Technical Staff- Computer Engineering | AI/ML)
Bachelor’s degree in STEM, Computer Science or a related technical field.
4 years of experience with Machine Learning and Data Science methodologies.
Two or more years of experience with containerization tools (Docker) and orchestration platforms (Kubernetes).
Two or more years of experience with APIs for serving machine learning models, RESTful services and microservice architectures.
Familiarity with SQL/NoSQL databases and with data storage solutions such as data lakes and data warehouses.
Familiarity with continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
Experience collaborating with data scientists , software developers (ie subject matter experts) and other stakeholders and an ability to document processes, code, and workflows effectively.
Willing to travel domestically less than 5% of the time if required.
This position requires ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
In addition to the above, the minimum requirements for the Machine Learning Engineer – Generative AI (Engineering Specialist - Computer Engineering | AI/ML) include:
Bachelor’s degree in STEM, Computer Science or a related technical field.
6-8 years experience with Machine Learning and Data Science methodologies.
Four or more years of experience with containerization tools (Docker) and orchestration platforms (Kubernetes).
Four or more years of experience with APIs for serving machine learning models, RESTful services and microservice architectures.
Ability to lead development on ML engineering or software engineering projects and to proactively engage with internal stake holders to come up with new solutions.
