Job Description SummaryAs a Data Integration Engineer for Diagnostic Cardiology at GE HealthCare, you will be responsible for facilitating the integration of GE HealthCare products into various hospital IT EMR systems. This includes developing, configuring, implementing, and testing a variety of HL7 interfaces and working with database reconfiguration tools. You will support the implementation of GEHC Centricity Clinical Gateway HL7 products within the Patient Care Solutions Diagnostic Cardiology product line, ensuring seamless data exchange using tools like the Cloverleaf interface engine. Your role will involve working on multiple projects, ranging from short-term to long-term durations, to enhance the interoperability and efficiency of diagnostic cardiology systems.

The ideal candidate for the Data Integration Engineer role should possess the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. This includes being self-motivated, proactive, and capable of managing their own workload effectively. Additionally, the candidate must be willing and able to provide off-hours support for project go-lives, ensuring seamless integration and minimal disruption to healthcare operations. This requires flexibility, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to handle high-pressure situations with professionalism and efficiency.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Developing and configuring HL7 interfaces: Design, develop, and configure HL7 interfaces to ensure seamless data exchange between GE HealthCare products and hospital IT systems.
  • Implementing and testing: Support the implementation of GEHC Centricity Clinical Gateway HL7 products, including conducting thorough testing to ensure functionality and reliability.
  • Providing technical support: Offer domain technical support during the installation and post-Go Live phases, acting as the primary point of contact for any integration-related issues.
  • Collaborating with teams: Work closely with other teams to establish integration plans, develop interface designs, and create test plans. Additionally, being a team player and actively engaging with the rest of the database conversion team is crucial to ensure everyone is aligned and not working in isolation. Sharing valuable information with team members is also essential for collective success.
  • Conducting system tests: Perform system tests prior to, during, and after the Go Live phase to ensure successful integration.
  • Managing multiple projects: Handle multiple projects simultaneously, ranging from short-term to long-term durations, ensuring timely and efficient completion.
  • Researching and troubleshooting: Investigate and partner to resolve issues, including configuration, user interface, network and communication connectivity, performance, cloud and on-premises component interoperability, data collection/storage, visualization, analytics, machine monitoring software, and quality.
  • Industry awareness: Stay informed about best practices and how your area integrates with others, as well as being aware of the competition and market differentiators.
  • Problem-solving: Use judgment and propose solutions outside of set parameters to address complex processes with technical variety and interdependencies, leveraging technical experience and analytical thinking.
  • Decision-making: Use multiple internal and limited external sources to make informed decisions.
  • Mentorship and leadership: Act as a resource for less experienced colleagues, lead small projects with low risks and resource requirements, explain information, and develop skills to bring team members to consensus. Convey performance expectations and handle sensitive issues when necessary.

Required Qualifications

  • Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field.
  • Experience: Relevant experience in healthcare integration, database, application analysis, troubleshooting, and clinical workflow.
  • Product Expertise: GE HealthCare's MUSE cardiology system.
  • Technical Expertise: Knowledge of industry standards such as HL7, FHIR, DICOM, and IHE profiles.
  • Integration Engine Training: Willing to acquire commercial training with integration engine, Cloverleaf.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities to address complex integration challenges.
  • Project Management Skills: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, ranging from short-term to long-term durations.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills to collaborate with internal teams and external clients.
  • Technical Support: Experience in providing technical support during installation and post-Go Live phases.
  • Leadership: Capable of coalescing multiple levels of client and internal resources to solve problems.

  • SQL Proficiency: Strong command of SQL for querying, manipulating, and managing data within relational databases.
  • Scripting: batch, vb.net, PowerShell:  creating new scripts and manipulating files in bulk.

Desired Qualifications

  • Cloverleaf Certification: Demonstrates proficiency in using the Cloverleaf integration engine, which is essential for developing and managing HL7 interfaces.
  • HL7 Certification: Validates expertise in HL7 standards, such as HL7 Version 2 (V2), HL7 Version 3 (V3), Clinical Document Architecture (CDA), and FHIR, ensuring a deep understanding of healthcare interoperability.
