Why Economy Fraud & Optimization?
As an Economy Fraud & Optimization engineer, you defend Roblox from all types of fraud, including purchasing and selling virtual items, and payment fraud. Additionally, you will play a key role in optimizing the payments funnel, identifying friction points, and implementing strategies to improve conversion rates and personalize the user experience.
Our team’s challenges are not just regular day-to-day technical challenges. Fraud and abuse approaches need to shift over time, depending on the current behaviors of fraudsters. As an Economy ML engineer, you will be in a data-driven environment developing both classical and novel approaches to detect and prevent this bad behavior.
You Will:
- Build, deploy, maintain and monitor high-scale ML solutions while working closely with product engineers and infra engineers.
- Implement models, improve infrastructure, build visualizations, perform data analysis, forecast fraud scenarios, and assist fraud investigations.
- Optimize and personalize the payments funnel to reduce friction, improve conversion rates, and tune toward user preferences.
- Collaborate with generalist backend engineers, data scientists, product, and operations.
- Build and deliver complex technical projects from the planning stage through execution.
- Ensure that our systems are scalable, reliable, and extensible.
You Have:
- 5+ years of professional experience building and working on end-to-end ML systems, including data analysis, ML modeling and data pipelines.
- Domain experience in fraud, abuse, risk, security, or trust & safety is a plus, but not required.
- Passion for delivering products end-to-end, from ideation through implementation and A/B testing, while being empathetic with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Ownership mindset with proactive, candid communication.
- Bachelor's Degree or above in computer science, engineering, mathematics, machine learning, or some other quantitative field.
For roles that are based at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA: The starting base pay for this position is as shown below. The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. All full-time employees are also eligible for equity compensation and for benefits.
Annual Salary Range$238,520—$289,460 USDRoles that are based in our San Mateo, CA Headquarters are in-office Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional in-office on Monday and Friday (unless otherwise noted).
