Job Description

Sosemo is seeking a talented Vice President/Director SEO to join our award-winning team. As AI-generated search results increasingly shape how users discover and interact with content, we need a strategic leader who can ensure our clients stay visible, relevant, and authoritative in both traditional search engines and AI-powered experiences.

Having been founded as a Search Marketing Agency, our leadership frequently champions search centric marketing strategies. As the leader of our SEO team, the VP/Director SEO will play a key role.

The ideal candidate will be an expert in SEO, have exceptional problem solving and client management skills, substantial team building, process improvement and leadership experience, expertise in marketing fundamentals, and prior revenue management experience. Paid search, social and pharmaceutical marketing experience are a plus.

The VP/Director SEO will manage our SEO team, function as a strategic advisor for clients, and be responsible for developing, documenting, and promoting thought leadership aimed at elevating our services. Other responsibilities include growing their team’s existing business, assisting with new business, planning, SOWs, strategy development, implementation and performance analysis in order to meet our client’s marketing objectives. Overall the VP/Director SEO is expected to take ownership of all aspects of their capability.

Along with a competitive base salary (salary range: $140,000 - $190,000), yearly bonus, and benefits, we also offer opportunities for our employees to earn a significant amount of additional compensation by working overtime and earning reward points.

Qualifications

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead the SEO capability, services and team

  • Lead strategy development and manage the team execution of the SEO deliverables and implementation for client accounts 

  • Oversee the delivery of keyword listening, technical SEO audits, optimization recommendations, analysis/insights/recommendations and pitch in as needed

  • Develops SEO and AI optimization recommendations based on AI metrics

  • Reports on AI metrics pertaining to SEO

  • Engineers AI prompts for automating SEO related workflows with human oversight and editing

  • Responsible for training direct reports on AI prompt engineering best practices

  • Continuously innovate capability services, SEO strategies, tactics, and tools.

  • Develop learning and development programs to train and standardize best practices & strategies

  • Collaborate with other department leaders to build effective digital strategies for clients

  • Regularly measure and report on SEO performance to clients

  • Assist with new business development and onboarding new SEO clients

  • Assist business development teams during the sales process by providing SEO audits and business insights, and participate in new business pitches

  • Develop proposals for new and existing clients

  • Develop Statements of Works based on proposals

  • Manage 2-6 team members at various levels and maintain high standards for quality work

  • Manage team allocations and build and structure the team as needed

  • Ensure that the “Sosemo Approach” is followed by the team

  • Function as the strategic expert on the SEO team to help guide both clients and the SEO team

  • Recommend strategies and tactics required to meet or exceed client expectations

  • Work with Operations/Project Management to manage timelines and confirm that all work is delivered in a timely manner levering status reports, hours tracking and project management software

  • Manage clients and ensure satisfaction including health checks

  • Maintain high quality standards and train the SEO team as needed

  • Assist with employee reviews

  • Research and keep up on industry trends

  • Provide strategic oversight and team management

  • Develop new marketing services and refine processes

  • Represent Sosemo as a thought leader at events and via publications

  • Present at conferences and events

Skills & Experience

  • 4-year college degree in marketing, computer science, or related field

  • 8+ years of experience managing SEO campaigns

  • Experience with data analytics, technical SEO, and SEO-supported content marketing campaigns

  • Ability to analyze results, present SEO performance to clients, and adjust plans for maximum effectiveness

  • Ability to adapt SEO strategies to Client business challenges, goals, and objectives

  • Ability to uncover opportunities in, on and off page and define effective strategies to achieve performance

  • Strategize and develop AI prompt libraries for use in facilitating client campaign performance and process efficiency, Prior experience working with an AI prompt library such as SharePoint/Prompt Buddy is a plus

  • Expert experience with AI prompt engineering for SEO related tasks

  • Experience measuring AI and AI optimization metrics and providing insights and recommendations related to SEO

  • Self-motivated and comfortable working in a results-driven environment

  • Experience managing capability revenue 

  • Proven ability to lead the efforts of an SEO team and provide training + mentorship

  • Prior experience at an agency is preferred

  • Experience using Atlassian: JIRA & Confluence work management tools

  • Experience using enterprise SEO campaign management tools such as Bright Edge, Search Metrics or Conductor

  • Experience using Google Keyword Planner or other keyword research platforms

  • Experience using SEO tools such as SEMRush, Ahrefs, Deep Crawl or similar tools

  • Experience using Analytics tools such as Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, Core Metrics or similar

  • Experience with Link Building campaign platforms

  • Passion for digital marketing and entrepreneurship

  • Must have strong analytical and problem solving skills

  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously

  • Must be able to make decisions in a fast-paced environment

  • Must be highly detail-oriented

  • Health and pharmaceutical experience is a plus

Additional Information

Note: For this position, we do not currently sponsor applicants for work visas. This role requires applicants to be in the office 3 days a week.
