What We Need
The Lead Data Scientist will own multiple high-value workstreams within Actuarial and Analytics Solutions (AAS) department through all phases of development, from ideation to design to build and deployment. This work includes a variety of modeling and analytics to support medical economics, payment integrity, and various other areas of finance. Additionally, they will be responsible for overseeing advanced program measurements leveraging statistical analysis and developing/executing on predictive modeling use cases. They will contribute to the development of the overall financial data strategy and ensure the design and execution of data use cases to enable decision making and drive insights. Finally, they will provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior data scientists and analysts, through direct reporting relationships, formal or informal collaboration.
Developing strong and trusted relationships with cross-functional business partners spanning multiple layers of the organization from analyst to SVP is critical to the success of this position. We’re looking for a subject matter expert in both healthcare and cutting edge data science techniques to work closely with other Business Leaders, Product Managers, Data Scientists, and Software Engineers to understand problems and co-own solutions.

Your Day-to-Day
- Lead the research, design, and implementation of data science solutions to support current/future business needs
- Anticipate and provide strategies/solutions to complex data problems or trends
- Evaluate and design new approaches and methodologies to solve business problems or improve efficiency
- Utilize statistical techniques to execute on advanced measurements of messy/noisy data
- Produce meaningful observations and recommendations through synthesizing data from internal and external sources
- Drive the design, building, and launching of new data models and data pipelines
- Manage the delivery of high impact dashboards and data visualizations
- Maintain knowledge on current and emerging developments/trends; assesses the impact and collaborates with management to incorporate new trends and development in current and future solutions
- Provide leadership and coordination with other departmental leaders to ensure consistency and transparency in data trends, themes and findings, particularly across the areas of medical economics, trend measurement, pricing, financial planning and informatics.
- Effectively communicate customized views of analysis and financial impacts to senior leadership
- Foster the continuous professional development of a diverse workforce, coach and mentor developing scientists

What You Bring:
- Deep and broad understanding of health care delivery system and health plan operations, including knowledge of Medical Economics, Trend Management, Pricing, Forecasting, Provider Payment Methodologies, and industry benchmarks.
- Experience with machine learning algorithms, statistical techniques, data interpretation methodologies, and deploying Predictive Models in a variety of applications
- Proven ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
- Comfort managing multiple competing priorities
- Provide strong customer focus and ability to work effectively in matrix environment.
- Creative problem solver – able to assess problems, develop creative solutions and see solutions to completion.
- Ability to think strategically, ensure execution and influence others
- Proven ability to lead and manage a team in high performance environment.
- Familiarity of software for data analysis and modeling; specifically Python, SQL, Tableau, statistical software (R, SAS etc)
- Proficiency working with modern data & analytics technologies and solutions on cloud platform (Snowflake preferred)
- Familiarity with working in an Agile Environment and partnering closely with IT
Education/Relevant Experience:
- Minimum of eight years of health care experience in analysis, design, development and delivery of data solutions
- Direct experience supervising other data scientists are a plus.
- BA/BS required; MS, MPH, PhD preferred.

Full timeSalary Range: $163,800.00 - $200,200.00The job posting range is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee’s pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs and affordability.
This job is also eligible for variable pay.
