Responsibilities

The Principal Product Manager, Data Products defines the long-term vision and drives the development of data and analytics solutions that help insurance and financial services providers gain deeper business intelligence. Works cross-functionally to define, build, and launch data products that provide insights, improve decision-making, and enhance competitive differentiation while driving revenue growth and customer value. This role focuses on leveraging modern data platforms, including Snowflake and Databricks, to power scalable, high-performance data solutions, while mentoring junior product managers to foster excellence in product management.

Responsibilities:

  • Product Strategy & Vision: Develop and drive the long-term strategic vision for a portfolio of data products, ensuring they align with business objectives and customer needs. Identify market opportunities and define data-driven solutions that enhance decision-making, operational efficiency, and competitive positioning. Create and maintain a roadmap for data products, prioritizing features based on customer impact, business value, and revenue potential.
  • Customer & Market Insights: Research to understand customer challenges related to data and analytics. Partner with sales, customer success, and marketing to gather feedback and improve data product adoption. Monitor industry trends and competitive landscape to identify emerging opportunities for innovation.
  • Product Development & Execution: Lead the end-to-end product development process for analytics, reporting, and data-driven insights solutions. Work within Snowflake to build scalable data solutions that support predictive analytics, AI-driven insights, and business intelligence. Collaborate with engineering, data science, and UX teams to define product requirements and ensure seamless execution. Define user personas and use cases for data products, ensuring they address key industry pain points. Ensure data products meet regulatory and compliance requirements, particularly for insurance and financial services.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with data engineers, data scientists, and analytics teams to develop scalable, high-impact solutions. Partner with sales and marketing to position and promote data products effectively. Engage with external partners and customers to understand data needs and drive adoption.
  • Metrics & Performance: Define and track key success metrics such as customer engagement, adoption rates, and revenue-driving business impact. Use a data-driven approach to iterate on product features and improve customer experience. Ensure alignment between data products and broader corporate goals, optimizing for market expansion and profitability.

 

Qualifications

Technical Competencies:

  • Advanced understanding of data platforms, data pipelines, and analytics solutions.
  • Experience with Snowflake and Databricks for cloud-based data processing, analytics, and AI-driven insights.
  • Proficient working with BI tools (Tableau, Power BI, Looker), AI/ML-driven insights, or predictive analytics.
  • Proficient with data governance, compliance, and security best practices in regulated industries.
  • Advanced analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and translate it into actionable insights.
  • Advanced communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strategic Portfolio Management: Expertise in managing a portfolio of data products, balancing technical innovation with business outcomes.

Education and Knowledge:

  • Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field, or international equivalent.
  • Typically requires 10+ years of experience in product management, with a focus on data products, analytics, or business intelligence.
