Staff Data Engineer

Base salary in the range of $180,000 to $250,000 plus equity.

Minimum Experience Required: 8+ years of data engineering experience.

Work Authorization: Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States. We cannot sponsor work visas at this time.

Location: 100% Remote

Architect Data Solutions at Altela: With $20 million in funding (check us out on Crunchbase!), Altela is pushing the boundaries of data-driven innovation. We're seeking a Staff Data Engineer to architect and build our next-generation data platform.

Your Impact: As a Staff Data Engineer, you'll be a technical leader, designing and implementing scalable data solutions that support advanced analytics and machine learning initiatives. Your work will directly enable our teams to make data-informed decisions and drive product innovation.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and architect scalable data platforms that support real-time and batch data processing.

  • Lead the development of data pipelines, ETL processes, and data warehousing solutions.

  • Define and enforce data governance and quality standards to ensure data integrity and reliability.

  • Mentor and guide junior data engineers, promoting best practices and fostering a culture of technical excellence.

  • Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and product managers to understand data requirements and deliver impactful solutions.

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of data engineering experience with a proven track record of designing and implementing complex data solutions.

  • Expert knowledge of distributed systems, data warehousing, and ETL processes.

  • Strong proficiency in SQL, Python, and cloud-based data technologies (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure).

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with real-time data streaming technologies (e.g., Kafka, Flink, Spark Streaming).

  • Expertise in building data lakes and data meshes.

  • Contributions to open-source data projects or technical publications.
