Institute for Digital Ecosystems
Fulltime, 40 hours/week
Starting July 01, 2025, and ending after 3 years   You want to work in a dynamic, open-minded and highly motivated team? Expect exciting research projects with a focus on Behavioral Decision Making, Digital Ecosystems, Digital Humanism, Data Science and AI, Decision Support, and Online Consumer Behavior.

What to expect

  • Research life: Collaborate with your colleagues in ongoing research projects at the Institute. Support Institute research projects and set up your own projects with a focus on topics in Behavioral Decision Making, Digital Ecosystems, Digital Humanism, Data Science and AI, Decision Support and Recommender Systems, and Online Consumer Behavior
  • Teaching: Plan, create and teach courses. Advise students and co-supervise their theses and exams
  • Build a personal network with partners in research, industry and business. Opportunities to visit international partners in the Institute network.
  • Organizational and administrative support: Support workshop and conference organization and work together with the Institute team on general tasks
  • Exciting research projects on digital ecosystems in a variety of contexts (e.g., financial, consumer, workplace) from a variety of perspectives (e.g., de-biasing and nudging, algorithm development, interface development, adaptive systems design, biosignal processing) with a variety of research methods (e.g., experiments, design science, data science)
  • Opportunity to explore your own interests in these research fields. Interdisciplinary research is encouraged. 
  • Collaborate on and initiate innovative grant proposals
  • Small team with intensive research mentoring 
  • Participation in international conferences (e.g., ICIS, ECIS, HICSS)
  • Publication of research projects in international journals

What you have to offer

  • Academic degree: You have completed a PhD/doctorate in one or more of the following subject areas:
    • Information Systems, Business Informatics
    • Information Technology, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence 
    • Social and economic sciences (e.g., Business Administration or Economics)
    • Psychology, Cognitive Sciences (e.g., Organisational or Business Psychology)
  • Language skills: You are fluent and able to express yourself very well in both spoken and written English. Fluency in German is a big plus.
  • Willingness to use multimedia teaching methods: You are prepared to use multimedia teaching and learning formats.
  • Motivation: Strong motivation to contribute to the interdisciplinary agenda of the Institute. Highly motivated, curious, well organized, team player. 
  • Additional skills: Experience and intermediate to very good skills in at least one of the following areas are an advantage:
    • Teaching (e.g., prior experience in tutorials, workshops)
    • Data science and statistics (including R or Python)
    • Software engineering (e.g., Java, Python)
    • Experimental research (e.g., behavioural and experimental economics, psychology)
    • Applying for and managing third-party funded grants (national and international funding institutions)

The minimum monthly gross salary amounts to €4,932.90 (14 times per year). This salary may be adjusted based on equivalent prior work experience. In addition, we offer a wide range of attractive social benefits.
