Desjardins General Insurance Group (DGIG) is seeking a business analyst that specializes in data. In the Data and Analytics Modernization Department, you play a key role in modernizing DGIG's data ecosystem. The department's contribution will directly influence the future of data use as a strategic asset in business processes and the development of new data foundations in modern, sustainable technologies. As a business analyst specializing in data, your role is to analyze the organization's context and business needs. You formalize business objectives and their value to the organization. You help identify, clarify the scope of, assess and recommend business solutions. You analyze the impacts of solutions on the organization, and ensure they’re integrated, from needs assessment to rollout, in collaboration with business and IT specialists. You interact with various contributors working in complementary fields of expertise. Interpersonal savvy and the ability to balance the interests of multiple parties are therefore essential. More specifically, you will be required to:

  • Identify, analyze and communicate the needs of parties involved, along with the costs, benefits, risks, constraints and business opportunities to be factored into the project’s scope 

  • Serve as an advisory specialist to co-create data valorization solutions with users, while ensuring alignment with business objectives; analyze impacts with parties involved, and identify prerequisites and internal dependencies; and ensure a cross-sector vision of the solutions and traceability of requirements

  • Design and orchestrate highly complex data valorization initiatives, taking into account the specifics of their operationalization and ensuring coordination during rollout

  • Target, prepare, describe, interpret and validate data needed for analyses, and make the appropriate recommendations 

  • Identify opportunities to optimize work methods and processes, anticipate the underlying impacts of changes, and contribute to the documentation and presentation of these improvements to various audiences

  • Perform descriptive and diagnostic data analyses for a range of complex initiatives, and make recommendations to the relevant decision-making bodies based on business needs and challenges

  • Detect data confidentiality and security issues, and support the implementation of data quality and compliance processes and tests

  • Take part in developing testing strategies, and define acceptance testing plans 

  • Help identify the change management strategy and execute its activities 

  • Support the business sector during solution rollouts

What you bring to the table

  • Bachelor's degree in business intelligence, information technology or a related field

  • A minimum of four years of relevant experience

  • Please note that other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered

  • Knowledge of French is required

  • Intermediate knowledge of English due to the nature of the duties or work tools or because the position involves interactions with English-speaking partners, members and/or clients

  • Proficiency in collecting needs and co-creating specifications

  • Proficiency in written and oral communication techniques

  • Knowledge of property and casualty insurance 

  • Knowledge of languages such as SAS or SQL 

  • Proficiency with a data visualization tool (for example, Power BI) 

  • Knowledge of database management 

  • Knowledge of the agile approach
