Overview

SSOE is seeking a dynamic and innovative Data Architecture & Platforms Manager to lead our expanding Technology Organization. This pivotal role reports directly to our Director of Data and Development and plays a key role in driving team success, efficiency, and growth.

 

The Project Technology Division spearheads innovation, automation, and cutting-edge technology initiatives, encompassing advanced analytics, data architecture, custom applications, integrations, and AI implementation throughout our Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) enterprise. With a strong emphasis on delivering value-driven solutions and fostering continuous improvement in people, processes, technology, and data, the Manager will lead a dedicated team in architecture and platform development. This role involves close collaboration with leaders across our Technology organization, business operations, and corporate functions to strategically position SSOE's data as a key competitive advantage. This versatile position offers a hybrid work arrangement, with the option to be based in our Toledo (OH), Troy (MI), Hillsboro (OR), Nashville (TN) or Atlanta (GA) offices, requiring a minimum of two days per week on-site.

Responsibilities

A Typical Day Might Include:

 

The following duties are typical of the position but are not all encompassing. Responsibilities include those required to deliver quality service on schedule and within budget in a team environment.

 

Team Leadership: Lead the data architecture and platforms team by setting clear expectations, providing motivation, fostering technical growth, collaboration, and resolving This includes direct reports, technology leadership, and SSOE leadership. Empower a global, inclusive, and healthy team dynamic and culture while driving excellence in our solutions and outcomes by delivering unparalleled client value that advances the AEC industry.

 

Strategy Development: Work closely with Directors, organizational leaders, and Manager peers to influence SSOE’s data strategy and leverage data architecture that aligns with SSOE’s strategic and tactical Document and facilitate goals, balance priorities, and guide the team's focus on critical projects. Align our data initiatives to the current and future needs of our business.

 

Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, senior management, and other stakeholders to ensure data architecture projects and resources align with business Communicate progress and results effectively.

 

Project Management/Resource Management: Oversee and delegate the planning, execution, and timely delivery of data architecture projects, ensuring they meet the required quality standards and adhere to schedule and budget Evaluate the resources, skills, and talent pool needed to complete the work, which may include consulting engagements and US/global workshare.

 

Performance Management: Evaluate, coach, and mentor staff Manage global resources that are both direct hires and consulting engagements. This includes career planning, training and development responsibilities, as well as hiring and corrective action duties.

 

Innovation and Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance data processes, tools, and methodologies to increase efficiency and effectiveness. Implement best practices and new technologies to streamline operations and improve data Encourage team members to propose and experiment with innovative solutions that address current and future business challenges. Monitor industry trends and advancements to ensure SSOE remains at the forefront of data architecture and engineering.

 

Technology & Data Governance: Partner with the business and SSOE’s Information Technology Division (Infrastructure and Support) to align with our security, redundancy, and sustainability standards as they relate to data architecture projects. Monitor compliance and continuous improvement or change management requests as corporate, client, and operational needs

 

Technology and Tools: Evaluate, maintain, and recommend data management, analysis, and architecture tools, as well as the technologies and platforms that align with SSOE’s technology

 

Travel: Support operation needs, team development, and project support as required.

Qualifications

Qualifications You’ll Need on Day One:

 

  • 10+ years of diverse professional experience in Information Technology, Information Systems, Data Architecture, Data Science, Software Development, or related fields
  • 5-8 years of demonstrated leadership and management of a technology team, showcasing a track record of driving quality outcomes and delivering
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering or related field required. Master’s degree preferred
  • Experience in Agile/Lean project management techniques as well as quality standards and best practices with SDLC
  • Experience in managing global resources including consultant engagements to scale teams for specific business or project
  • Experience with Microsoft technologies, including Azure, SQL Server, Power BI, and the Microsoft 365 Proficiency in data architecture and engineering principles, such as ETL processes, data warehousing, and data modeling, is essential.
  • The candidate should have a strong understanding of cloud computing, particularly Azure services like Azure Fabric, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, and Azure Databricks. Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools, such as Azure DevOps, for continuous integration and deployment is also preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise in data governance, security, and compliance within a Microsoft ecosystem, ensuring alignment with industry standards and best practices.
  • Excellent communications skills, including experience presenting to different audiences: executives, management, clients, end users, and peers
  • Salary Range: $160,000 - $180,000
