Program Manager - Data Management

The Team

Our Data Management team empowers data-driven decision making and strategic initiatives across Deliveroo by establishing robust data governance, cataloguing, quality, usage, and storage practices. These ensure that data is available, accessible, and of high quality to support business growth.

We are looking for a Program Manager with experience in Data Management or related domains to define and lead cross-functional programs of work that uplevel the ways in which Deliveroo manages data. The Program Manager will be responsible for identifying and prioritising key focus areas within Data Management, documenting current processes and collaborating across engineering and business teams to develop a long-term strategy for particular streams of work. The Program Manager will also implement interim process improvements while supporting a growing Data Management team to balance its evolving culture with increased specialisation and clear responsibilities.

You'll report to the Senior Manager, Technical Programme Management. This is a hybrid role requiring three days a week in our London office in Cannon Street.

What you’ll be doing

  • For specific streams of work within Data Management, understanding and documenting current processes, collaborating with individuals across engineering and the business to identify improvements/ ideal future state, and forming a plan to move us forward
  • Working with a wide range of teams consuming data as well as the Learning and Development team to identify, create and post any necessary training
  • Staying close to GenAI tools which can manipulate or interpret data and creating a lightweight process to validate their responses
  • Setting reasonable goals for the areas of work you’re involved in and defining milestones to hit along the way while managing dependencies and risks
  • Managing changes effectively, balancing the distribution of information amongst stakeholders
  • Enabling the easy flow of information and plans between people and teams through the creation of effective communications at scale
  • Gathering and prioritising requirements according to impact and effort
  • Working with engineering and product teams across the organisation to build partnerships and deliver any necessary functionality changes to our products or systems according to an agreed roadmap
  • Collaborating with the Data Management team to identify overlaps with other programs
  • Using your knowledge of Data Management requirements to identify future areas of focus

Requirements

  • Broad data understanding: where it comes from, what it’s used for, challenges it brings and how it flows through a business
  • Experience breaking down big goals into manageable streams of work and bringing structure to ambiguous problem spaces 
  • 5+ years of data engineering or product/ program management experience
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive changes
  • Experience delivering programs with a global footprint
  • Knowledge of user needs, gathering/ prioritising requirements, and defining scope
  • Experience operating autonomously and leading large-scale efforts across multiple teams and functions with stakeholders in different disciplines

Preferred, but not required

  • Experience in Data Management or Data Governance
  • Knowledge of Cloud Data Management Capabilities (CDMC) framework
  • Understanding of GDPR and other Data Protection regulations
  • Experience of working with GenAI tools in data applications
  • Experience of Business intelligence/ data visualisation platforms
