What you’ll be responsible for
As a Data Scientist, you will contribute substantially to the analytical capability of the Data Team, and the wider organisation. The Data Science Team support the whole organisation by understanding business problems, using data and data science toolsets (including machine learning, artificial intelligence, and operational research) to provide insight to the business to better aid data-led decisions. Every project that the team delivers is different, making the role exciting and varied with opportunities to develop your technical skillsets further whilst in role.
You will be recognised as a data and analytics specialist within the organisation working with the Data Team and stakeholders to develop, train, evaluate, deploy, and maintain analytics products that add business value. You will work within a Data Team that is on a journey to a centralised data platform and advanced cloud analytics alongside the necessary analytics governance. You will need to be curious and excited to learn by horizon-scanning across a rapidly changing field.
Technical Responsibilities
• Identify the best solution for the problem and understand how the solution can add business benefit
• Develop, deploy, and maintain analytical solutions using agile approaches
• Practical experience of data science approaches, including machine learning, operational research, artificial intelligence, and programming
• You will be an advanced Programmer with experience of using statistical languages
• Develop user interfaces to support the delivery of data science products to the business

Qualifications
- Relevant postgraduate degree (MSc/PhD) in data science, mathematics, computer science, or related discipline
Experience
- Demonstrable working experience within a data science team
- Experience of project management - desirable
Knowledge & Skills
- Enthusiastic about putting our customers first every day
- Detailed and technical knowledge of data science and analytical concepts
- Ability to develop, train, evaluate and deploy analytical tools (e.g. predictive models)
- Strong programming (coding) skills (e.g. R, Python)

- Custom applications and user interfaces created to improve data collection and visual representation of predictive models.

Location is flexible and can negotiated - we are currently operating a flexible hybrid working arrangement with some days in the office and others form home.
