Summary:

Duke Radiology is seeking a candidate to fill the position of Associate in Research. The Associate in Research will perform a variety of complex technical duties involved in conducting virtual imaging trials through medical imaging simulation techniques. These techniques include computational models of human anatomy, algorithms that model imaging devices, and image reconstruction and analysis.

Work Performed (i.e., Duties):

• Assist with the research and clinical workflow around photon counting CT applications, with an emphasis on abdominal applications. This will include reviewing images and conducting phantom experiments for protocol optimization, assessing diagnostic performance for the detection and characterization of liver, pancreatic, and renal lesions, and improving clinical workflow for spectral data interpretation.
• Help develop and implement meaningful AI applications in routine clinical practice.
• Draft manuscripts.
• Collaborate with the large number of research and clinical faculty in the Department of Radiology and Duke University to accomplish research goals. Participate in formal training, workshops, and presentations as requested.
• Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Qualifications:

Education:

• An individual with academic credentials but without a doctorate and not a degree candidate.

Experience:

• Prior research in the execution and publication of investigations on medical imaging, modeling, and simulations. Prior research experience in CT imaging is preferred.
• Programming skills (C, Python, MATLAB, etc.) for machine learning, image processing, and simulation purposes.
