ROLE SUMMARY

The Senior Manager, Data Science role is accountable for delivering data science-driven strategic and tactical support across the commercial business. As a strategic partner to the US Commercial teams, this person will develop and implement models and data science-derived insights that drive brands’ strategic priorities. This will include driving the execution and interpretation of AI/ML models, framing problems, and shaping solutions. Also, this person will help shape the brands’ strategies and tactics by interfacing closely with Data Science COEs to develop bespoke AI/ML models to meet evolving needs and with omnichannel operations to drive execution.

This role is dynamic, fast-paced, highly collaborative, and covers a broad range of strategic topics that are critical to our business. The successful candidate will join GCA colleagues worldwide that are constantly supporting business transformation through their proactive thought leadership, innovative analytical capabilities, and their ability to communicate highly complex and dynamic information in new and creative ways.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Role definition and key accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

Commercial Data Science and Insights

  • Provide data science and insights to US Commercial teams to drive brand tactic decisions.

  • Act as a strategic partner to frame, investigate, and translate complex data-related models, and answer key business questions related to the identification and evaluation of Commercial and brand strategies and tactics.

  • Partner with Sales and Marketing Leadership to support sales force execution.

  • Integrate DS capabilities with commercial decision-making processes, explain complex models, translate observations into actionable insights, and find business impact.

  • Guide stakeholders via compelling and persuasive storytelling.

  • Strengthen the Brand and Sales teams' understanding of marketplace performance and opportunities by analyzing the impacts of brand strategies and tactics and partnering on data product solutions.

  • Utilize data-driven insights to identify new opportunities and optimize existing strategies, supporting commercial strategy and opportunity creation.

  • Deliver strategic and tactical support for multiple US brands as needed, acting as a subject matter expert.

Collaboration with other GCA and Analytics teams

  • Partner with GCA Integrated Insights & Strategy leads to incorporate data science capabilities and insights into analytics plans and recommendations

Collaborate with Data Science Solutions teams

  • Partner with Data Science COE to develop bespoke AI and machine learning models; configure pre-built models and interpret updated results

  • Ensure alignment with Data Science COEs teams to ensure cohesive activities with stakeholders

  • Mentor and develop junior data scientists, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation

Technical Skills

  • Fluent in English (written and spoken)

  • Experience with machine learning technology and big data stack, such as: Python and its package ecosystem including pandas, scikit-learn, XGBoost, LightGBM, TensorFlow, PyTorch; SQL; cloud ML platforms; LLM applications; and data visualization techniques

  • Strong MS Excel and PowerPoint skills

  • Experience in understanding brand content, strategy, and tactics

  • Ability to effectively utilize dashboards and data products to derive insights

  • Understands quantitative and qualitative research methodologies

  • Experience in management of secondary data with application of real-world data

  • Ability to connect, integrate, and synthesize data and analysis into a meaningful ‘so what’ to drive concrete strategic recommendations for brand tactics. Capable of describing relevant caveats in data or in a model and how they relate to business questions

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required, ideally in a quantitative field such as Physics, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Data Science, Operations Research, Computer Science, etc.

  • 6+ years of work experience

  • 4+ years experience in business analytics function, country strategy and/or strategic consulting

  • Proven track record of leveraging data science to address strategic business challenges

  • Experience using data science models to solve problems in a business environment setting

  • Experience leading cross-functional projects and managing stakeholder relationships at senior levels.

  • Experience with machine learning technology and big data stack, such as: Python, SQL, cloud ML platforms, LLM applications, and data visualization techniques

  • Experience in understanding brand content, strategy, and tactics

  • Understands quantitative and qualitative research methodologies

  • Experience in management of secondary data with application of real-world data

  • Proven ability to partner with cross-functional teams (Commercial, Insights, Operations) to execute brand tactics

  • Proven ability to connect, integrate, and synthesize data and analysis into a meaningful ‘so what’ to drive concrete strategic recommendations for brand tactics. Capable of describing relevant caveats in data or in a model and how they relate to business questions

  • Ability to be flexible, prioritize multiple demands and deal with ambiguity

  • Fluent in English (written and spoken)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Advanced degree preferred in a quantitative field such as Physics, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Data Science, Operations Research, Computer Science, etc.

  • Experience in Life Sciences Industry

Other Job Details:

  • Work location: Flexible; 2-3 days onsite/week

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $120,800.00 to $201,400.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 17.5% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
