Reports to: Associate Director, Strategic Finance

Key Accountabilities

Advanced Product Costing and Profitability Analysis

  • Enhance and maintain the costing and profitability model, refining its technical structure and methodology to meet evolving institutional requirements.

  • Integrate complex data from Workday ERP and diverse sources (e.g., student records, space booking, staff workload systems), ensuring seamless consolidation and accuracy.

  • Implement advanced data cleaning and validation techniques to resolve intricate inconsistencies and establish robust standards for dataset reliability.

  • Configure and optimize the costing and profitability model with precise, structured data inputs, aligning outputs with strategic financial goals.

  • Perform in-depth analyses of model results, leveraging advanced statistical methods to uncover cost drivers, profitability patterns, and optimization opportunities.

  • Create sophisticated visualizations and technical reports to communicate analytical findings to stakeholders, supporting strategic decision-making.

  • Utilize Workday and advanced tools (e.g., SQL, Python, Power BI) to develop efficient data workflows and enhance system performance.

  • Collaborate with finance, schools, and operations teams to align technical processes with institutional needs and integrate feedback into analytical frameworks.

  • Maintain detailed technical documentation of data systems, methodologies, and assumptions, ensuring transparency and audit compliance.

  • Drive technical innovation by designing automated solutions, integrating new tools, and refining costing methodologies to improve accuracy and efficiency.

Financial Reporting, Planning, and Technical Expertise

  • Generate comprehensive financial reports by extracting and analyzing data, providing detailed comparisons of actual performance against budgets, forecasts, and prior years.

  • Reconcile complex student data across systems and departments (e.g., Recruitment, Admissions, Student Administration), applying technical rigor to categorize students and validate forecast submissions in RPT.

  • Support the development of annual budgets, multi-year forecasts, and long-term strategic plans, delivering precise technical inputs for student projections, revenue, OPEX, and CAPEX.

  • Address ad-hoc analytical requests, applying advanced technical skills to resolve complex financial queries and support institutional priorities.

  • Evaluate and recommend enhancements to financial systems and reporting tools, ensuring alignment with best practices and institutional objectives.

System and Process Optimization

  • Develop and implement technical frameworks to improve data governance, reporting accuracy, and costing consistency across systems.

  • Assess and integrate emerging technologies or analytical tools to advance the organization’s financial modeling and data processing capabilities.

  • Contribute specialized technical expertise to institution-wide projects, ensuring financial systems and insights support strategic outcomes

Key Selection Criteria

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Finance, Economics, Computer Science, or a related field; postgraduate qualifications (e.g., Master’s in Data Analytics, Finance, or IT) or equivalent technical expertise strongly preferred.

  • Experience: Minimum 7–10 years in data analysis, financial modeling, or a related technical field, with extensive experience in costing, profitability analysis, or system optimization.

  • Technical Skills:

    • Expert proficiency in data manipulation and analysis tools (e.g., advanced Excel, SQL, Python).

    • Deep expertise with Workday (data extraction, reporting, integrations) and system configuration.

    • Advanced capability in data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) to produce high-quality technical outputs.

  • Analytical Expertise: Exceptional ability to interpret complex, multifaceted datasets, apply advanced analytical techniques, and resolve systemic technical issues.

  • Attention to Detail: Proven track record of maintaining precision and integrity in large-scale, technically demanding data environments.

  • Problem-Solving: Innovative and proactive in designing technical solutions, optimizing processes, and addressing intricate challenges.

  • Communication: Strong ability to translate complex technical findings into clear, actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders.

  • Judgment: Capacity to exercise high-level technical discretion and decision-making with minimal supervision.

  • Adaptability: Thrives in a fast-paced environment, managing evolving technical priorities with precision and focus.

  • Ability to display appropriate behaviours in line with the position and RMIT Values

English Proficiency

English is the language of teaching and communication at RMIT Vietnam. For this role, the minimum requirement is IELTS General 6.5 (or equivalent Linguaskill 170).
