Apollo Global Management is searching for a Associate Director, Data Governance Lead, to join its Data office. This role will cut across all the business verticals under AGM including AAM (Asset management), ISG and Athene (Insurance). The Data Office’s mission is to transform AGM into a data driven organization. Part of Data Governance is Data Transformation team which spearheads all data-driven transformation initiatives.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a passion for data, data-related processes and systems, and will demonstrate extensive experience working with similar financial services firms. You will support the overall efforts to transform AISG into a data driven organization. Specifically, you will help to continue our journey to influence our data culture and establish best practices in our data evolution. You will be engaged in data transformation initiatives, designed to improve data across the organization. You will lead the successful transformation of our data quality capabilities.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Champion the adoption and implementation of the data strategy to continue our data journey.
- Lead efforts to implement data governance and data quality capabilities to improve data across the organization.
- Drive cultural change to ensure data is viewed as a critical asset within the organization.
- Develop and implement data quality standards, policies, and procedures
- Perform data analysis to identify trends, patterns, anomalies and provide actionable insights and recommendations based on data analysis.
- Should have a deep understanding of data lineage and experience of working on remedy projects/initiatives
- Transform and liberate data to become a trusted accessible asset for the firm.
- Define the data health for the organization and drive the overall improvement of data quality.
- Drive the implementation of data best practices to improve the overall data health.
- Support the Data Office evolution to implement data best practices to establish data as an asset.
- Identify and shape continuous improvement opportunities and recommendations that drives data to better serve the rapidly-growing insurance solutions business.
- Establish cross functional partnerships to find opportunities to enhance our business processes front-to-back to improve our data supply chain.
- Build and maintain partnerships with all relevant functional areas within Apollo. Work with functional leadership, key stakeholders, data owners and data stewards, to build consensus through effective communications of well-analyzed business cases and supporting materials.
- Continue to evolve the data reporting and self-service capabilities for our business domains and critical business functions.
- Provide data quality guidance support to the Data Transformations teams within the Data Office
- Provide data quality leadership to strategic projects, business initiatives and operational changes.
- Set the standard for data quality within AISG and supporting business functions.
Qualifications & Experience
- 6+ years of experience in financial or consulting industry.
- Bachelor’s degree in economics, Finance, or related discipline, MBA and CFA preferred.
- Experience with establishing data quality strategies and data transformation within a fast-paced, dynamically growing organization.
- Familiarity/experience with data visualization tools including PowerBI, Tableau and Pyramid would be desirable.
- Experience in data governance and data-related process re-engineering and system transformation in investment management industry.
- Strong knowledge of data-driven processes, products, technology, and controls in key investment management functions.
- Strong knowledge of investment accounting, risk, security master and trade analytic data inputs.
- Track record of leading data quality initiatives across business and IT functions.
- Strong ability to influence, shape and improve the data quality landscape.
- Experience building a new data quality team/function.
- Exposure to complex investment management infrastructure and landscape.
- knowledge of financial instruments (e.g., fixed income, alternative investments, equities and derivatives).
- Risk management and risk reporting & governance experience (e.g. portfolio risk assessment, quantitative risk analysis, derivatives and hedging strategies) is a plus.
- Expert problem solver with the ability to identify and triage data issues and drive tactical and strategic solutions.
- Strong communication and influencing skills with partners and peers at all levels of the organization.
- Extensive experience to navigate skillfully within a matrix organization.
Pay Range
$115,000 - $120,000Apollo Global Management, Inc. (together with its subsidiaries and affiliates) is committed to championing opportunity.

The base salary range for this position is listed above. This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus based on personal, team, and Firm performance. Compensation ranges are based on several factors including job function, level, and geographic location. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed here.
