As a Manager, Data Science, you will play a critical role within a team focused on content optimization, using advanced analytics, machine learning, and genAI to inform strategic decisions around NBCU’s portfolio of content. This role is ideal for a highly skilled data scientist who is transitioning into leadership, balancing hands-on machine learning work with project oversight, stakeholder collaboration, and team development. Reporting to the Senior Director of Content Optimization, you will work closely with data scientists, business stakeholders, analysts, and engineers to deliver actionable insights and optimize content performance at scale. With a catalog-wide purview, you will be a part of a growing bi-coastal team and work in a highly visible and fast-paced environment synthesizing and building key analyses, presentations and customized data models.
Responsibilities:
- Provide technical direction, ensuring best practices in advanced analytics and machine learning.
- Support the growth and development of team members through coaching, feedback, and knowledge sharing.
- Develop and deploy predictive and prescriptive models to shape how millions of viewers discover and engage with content.
- Ensure the scalability, efficiency, and reliability of machine learning solutions in a cloud-based environment (e.g., Databricks, GCP, AWS).
- Guide feature engineering and statistical modeling to improve content optimization and decision-making.
- Act as a connector between data science and business teams, ensuring models and insights drive key content strategy decisions.
- Work closely with content, distribution, and product stakeholders to align data science efforts with business priorities and audience growth initiatives.
- Translate complex analytical findings into clear, actionable recommendations for senior leadership.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Data Science or related quantitative field
- 4+ years of experience in data science
- Experience leading or mentoring data scientists on commercial projects
- Hands-on experience with machine learning techniques, statistical modeling, and experimentation methodologies
- Proficiency in Python and SQL
- Experience with Databricks or similar cloud-based analytics platforms.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data science insights into business impact
Desired Characteristics:
- PhD in a relevant field
- Experience with Tableau or similar data visualization tool

Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week
