Overview
Beyond New Horizons, LLC (BNH) has an exciting opportunity for a Digital Enterprise Project Engineer, supporting TOS II, at Arnold Air Force Base, TN. As a Digital Enterprise Project Engineer, you will support the development of technical scope, requirements, estimates, and schedules for capital investment, test, and maintenance projects for the Digital Enterprise Project Management organization. This role coordinates Engineering activities (e.g., technical planning, design, installation, and checkout) with Design Engineers, System Engineers, Test Operations Engineers, Project Managers, other non-Engineering functions, and support for the projects within the Digital Enterprise Project Management’s portfolio.

Job Summary
Beyond New Horizons, LLC (BNH) is the team selected by the U.S. Air Force to conduct Test and Operations Sustainment at the Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC) at Arnold Air Force Base in Tennessee. AEDC operates more than 55 aerodynamic and propulsion wind tunnels, rocket and turbine engine test cells, space environmental chambers, arc heaters, ballistic ranges and other specialized units located in six states. Many of the complex's test units have capabilities unmatched elsewhere in the United States; some are unique in the world. AEDC is one of three installations which are part of the Air Force Test Center (AFTC), one of six subordinate commands of the Air Force Materiel Command organization, and an important national resource.
AEDC’s mission is to conduct developmental test and evaluation for the Nation through modeling, simulation, and ground and flight test. Execution of the mission requires a large team of highly qualified and dedicated professionals from multiple technical disciplines to effectively accomplish the objectives of our test customers.
Job Duties:
- Responsible for coordination of engineering deliverables on a project or group of projects for BNH. Coordinates with the Digital Enterprise Project Managers, Group Managers and Functional Managers to secure the resources needed to complete design activities.
- Communicates information that assists with effective priority determination by Digital Enterprise Branch Management.
- Coordinates with the technical team to guide and direct 0-Works with Project Controls to develop work breakdown structures; Critical Path Method (CPM) schedules; and resource, cost and budget plans.
- Supports Project Control / Digital Enterprise Project Manager in performing critical path analysis and development of timelines for completion of tasks, measuring the deliverable work packages of the project against the project plan.
- Communicates schedule conflicts, resource constraints, and time constraints to the project team, section supervisors, and group managers.
- Assist with PM responsibilities as need in the preparation of progress reports, standardized reporting procedures and the monitoring of overall project performance.
- Tracks project charging and ensures appropriate charge number assignment.
- Organizes and communicates project information (e.g., scope of work, requirements documentation, drawings, and estimates) to project team members.
- Serves as a technical liaison between the project team, contractor, and government engineering staff.
- Support process improvement efforts and development and documentation of new processes.
- It is a condition of employment to wear company issued PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Basic Qualifications:
- BS. degree in engineering, computer science or other engineering discipline from an accredited college or university plus 2 to 7 years of progressive work experience in design engineering or other relevant types of engineering such as test operations or plant operation in large industrial plants, utilities, process plants or engineering/construction firms.
- Prior experience managing engineering projects and/or designing systems.
- Current U S Citizenship required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Technical knowledge of related engineering systems, engineering calculations, applications of engineering and construction methods and materials, and engineering application of computers.
- Master’s or PhD degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering or another relevant engineering field from an accredited university program.
- Demonstrated experience in a data analytics role applied to technical data in probability analyses and statistical analytics to gain insights using large data sources.
- Knowledge of data mining, analysis and collection techniques applied to operations and analysis, especially safety or operations process improvement.
- Experience using statistical computer languages (R, Python, SQL, etc.) to analyze data and draw insights from large data sets.
- Experience working with and creating data architectures.
- Experience performing root cause analysis.
- Knowledge of a variety of machine learning techniques and their real-world advantages/drawbacks.
- Knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and concepts (regression, properties of distributions, statistical tests and proper usage, etc.) and experience with applications.
- Coding knowledge and experience with multiple languages
- Knowledge and experience in statistical and data mining techniques: GLM/Regression, Random Forest, Boosting, Trees, text mining, etc.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, including the preparation of technical reports is required.

Must obtain and maintain the required security clearance requirements for this position and obtain and maintain access to the AEDC local area computer network. Security protocols demanded by this position are of national security importance and should be taken seriously. This position is based in an industrial complex comprised of multiple facilities requiring transportation to various buildings within the complex. Duties require frequent and extended periods of outside work, subject to all weather conditions and extremes. This position may require the employee at times to analyze a large amount of information and at times, make decisions under pressure quickly. This position requires the ability to decipher visual cues and hear and process auditory directions. The position may require the employee to work a temporary, alternative schedule or shift as requested by the supervisor and may be subject to “call in” as required to maintain test operations capabilities. The successful candidate would be expected to be aware of safety hazards in the immediate area and comply with safety rules and safe work practices to ensure the safety of yourself and your team. Compliance with all security protocols is required within the complex.
