About the Role

As a Data Engineer at Félix, you will focus on designing and evolving our data models and schemas to support analytics, BI, and downstream services. You’ll collaborate with analysts, scientists, and engineers to ensure our data assets are well‑structured, performant, and future‑proof.

Responsibilities

  • Data Modeling & Schema Design: Architect logical and physical data models (star, snowflake, dimensional) for our data warehouse (BigQuery) and data marts.
  • Data Architecture Collaboration: Partner with senior engineers to translate business requirements into scalable schema designs and data flows.
  • ETL Support: Work with the ETL team to ensure models align with pipeline outputs—validate transformations, data types, and referential integrity.
  • Data Documentation: Create and maintain model catalogs, ER diagrams, and naming conventions; ensure metadata is complete and accessible.
  • dbt Development: Design, develop, and maintain modular data transformation pipelines using dbt (Data Build Tool), including models, tests, and documentation for version-controlled workflows.
  • Performance Tuning: Analyze query patterns and optimize table structures (partitioning, clustering, indexing) for cost and speed.
  • Data Quality & Governance: Assist in defining data quality tests and implement checks around cardinality, null rates, and consistency.
  • Version Control: Use Git for model versioning, branching strategies, and pull request reviews on SQL and model definitions.
  • Collaboration: Liaise with analysts/data scientists to iterate on models based on evolving metrics and KPIs.
  • Training & Best Practices: Help evangelize modeling standards, conduct brown‑bag sessions, and mentor junior teammates.

Requirements

  • 2–4 years of experience as a Data Engineer, BI Engineer, or similar role.
  • Proven track record designing and implementing dimensional models in cloud data warehouses (BigQuery, Redshift, Snowflake).
  • Strong SQL skills and proven experience building data transformation pipelines using dbt (Data Build Tool) and familiarity with Dataform.
  • Experience with data cataloging and metadata tooling (Data Plex, Amundsen, or similar).
  • Understanding of data warehousing concepts: star/snowflake schemas, slowly changing dimensions, fact tables.
  • Familiarity with version control (Git) and collaborative workflows (GitHub/GitLab).
  • Basic Python scripting for data validation or ETL support.
  • Excellent analytical thinking, problem‑solving skills, and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills with ability to translate between technical and business contexts.
  • These are the applicable requisites, although equivalent competencies in any of the above will also be considered.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary
  • Initial stock options grant
  • Annual performance bonus
  • Health, dental, and vision plans
  • Remote work environment, although we have offices in Miami and México City and would love to work in hybrid model if you are up to it.
  • Continuous learning opportunities
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Paid parental leave
  • Empowering opportunities for growth in a dynamic entrepreneurial environment
