Purpose of the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Aerodynamics Team at Bentley. As a Technical Manager-Aerodynamics you will collaborate with the Functional Manager and Head Of Department to deliver our product ambitions and to shape our Bentley Beyond 100+strategy. Responsibilities include;

• Responsible for the overview and delivery for all Bentley Aerodynamics projects from technical target setting through to project certification
• Lead the planning & successful completion of wind tunnel test programmes to develop Bentley vehicles in order to achieve aerodynamic performance targets
• Problem resolution activities working in close cooperation with other functions to ensure achievement of aerodynamic targets
• To apply aerodynamic expertise to design and development testing (scale model, aerobuck and prototype) in aerodynamic test facilities (wind tunnel)
• Lead the planning of CFD and AI simulations within Bentley Aerodynamics team, aligned to project deadlines.
• Analyse aerodynamic wind tunnel and CFD data and report status and recommendations
• Lead the input from the Aerodynamics team into Styling and Engineering teams in order to effect aerodynamic change in body styles, components and project content
• Spearhead the development and deployment of the Aerodynamic development process, technology and innovation  
• Supplier management (facility / CAD & CFD support / aerobuck and physical model design and manufacture)
• Plan, manage and action the build of aerodynamic physical properties and test parts (scale models and aerobucks)
• Delivery of presentations at various levels as an Aerodynamics representative, ranging from working level meetings to Board level– where a concise and impactful communication style is critical

About the Team
The Aerodynamics function is part of the Whole Vehicle Physics Department and is at the forefront of delivering vehicle performance, efficiency and sustainability. The team is responsible for the aerodynamic development of all Bentley vehicles in line with the technical targets. This involves very early involvement with the Styling and Concepts Departments and continues work until SOP where close working with the Certification Department is critical to ensure the vehicle certification.

About you – Skills and Experience

The successful candidate will have extensive vehicle aerodynamics experience applied in a wind tunnel testing and CFD environment. Along with the following experience;

• Significant experience and sound knowledge of CFD and Aerodynamic vehicle development
• Extensive previous experience of wind tunnel testing (full scale and reduced scale testing)
• Experience of building strong collaborative and influential relationships with a broad range of stakeholders including Styling / Design Department
• Experience and knowledge of AI and Machine Learning and how these can be utilised in Aerodynamics would be a strong advantage
• Good knowledge of CATIA, Blender, ANSA, EXA PowerFlow would be an advantage
• Programming knowledge (VBA, Python, SQL Server) would be an advantage
• Ability to communicate at various levels across the company in different forums
• Mechanical or Aeronautical / Aerospace Engineering Degree or equivalent experience
