Job Description:

This position develops and designs operational technology machine vision, dimensioning, high speed weigh scale, and revenue recovery solutions. Develops the core technical platform, capabilities, and services that support business processes and data. This position works with vendors, consultants, electrical and mechanical contractors and global cross-functional staff to successfully meet the project objectives with regards to system functionality, system performance, and system reliability. Assesses cost and return on investment (ROI) for platform and infrastructure alternatives. This position reviews solutions to ensure designs meet requirements, business needs, and determine the most effective products to include within the material handling process. Provides specific functional expertise that is theoretical and conceptual in nature. Particularly with emerging technology reviews, sophisticated subject matter expertise is a requirement for success. Requires specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise in own job discipline or field. Interprets business challenges and recommends best practices. Leads others to solve complex problems. Works independently, with guidance in only the most complex situations. May lead functional teams or projects. 30% business travel is required for this position

Architecture Design

• Leads projects designing and developing architecture solutions to business problems that meet user requirements.
• Work diligently with vendors to onboard new technological solutions to broaden the business footprint on machine vison and learning.

Emerging Technology Trends and Practices

• Applies knowledge of emerging technology trends and best practices to show the potential business application of technology improvements.

Technology Advising/Consulting

• Is an expert in DWS
• Exceeds customers’ expectations by listening for unexpressed needs; connects customer needs to relevant service offerings and new technology.
• Leads others in resolving technical issues in a timely manner; follows up with customers to ensure satisfaction.
• Partners with the business to integrate new technologies into business solutions; creates and communicates a vision of the technology requirements for the future state of the business.

Stakeholder Engagement

• Identifies and manages key business partner relationships, listens to and understands their needs and expectations, maintains open two-way communication and delivers value to business partner.
• Maintains, facilitates, and improves upon those relationships and demonstrates accountability for results.
• Develops trust and influence among key business partners. Is available and consistently communicates with business partners to reach desired goals in a timely manner, showing flexibility when needed.

Process Improvement

• Assesses bottlenecks in work processes within teams to streamline and simplify workflow.

• Compiles data and analyzes the impact of process changes.

System and Technology Integration

• Interprets internal/external business challenges and recommends integration of the appropriate systems, applications and technology to provide a fully functional solution to a business problem.

IT Network Management

• Plans and determines resources for network management projects and provides suggestions to enhance capabilities and performance.
   

Technical Communication/Presentation

• Confirms comprehension and understanding of complex technical information (e.g., operational risk, and regulatory data) by correctly and clearly answering routine questions.
• Creates clear, concise and organized communication materials (e.g., policies & procedures, guidelines, presentations, messages).
• Considers and understands the audience’s specific needs and comprehension level to determine the most appropriate message and delivery method, limiting or explaining technical language.
• Creatively develops tools, visual aids and other original content to support the understanding/education of complex and technical information (e.g., legal, operational risk, and regulatory data).
• Guides others on the best practices and approaches for creating clear, concise and organized communication materials to convey technical concepts in a user-friendly way.
• Challenges others to bring fresh and creative perspective to differentiating technical communications and ensuring comprehension and ease-of-use for various audiences.
• Develops documentation and training for new technology to be implemented within a stable environment.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree
• 3+ years experience designing, commissioning, troubleshooting current electrical systems, computer vision, machine learning or material handling system architecture. 
• Ability to drive innovation by incorporating the latest advances in deep learning or machine vision technology
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Knowledge in theory and practice of computer vision, machine learning and deep learning techniques.
• Hands-on experience with building, training, evaluating, and deploying material handling based vision models, or related methods
• Familiarity in Linux, Go, Python and one of the deep learning toolkits or machine vision imaging software's. 
• Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with partner teams.
• Familiarity with modern camera ISP and digital image processing algorithms and models

• Broad technical knowledge spanning a wide range of application areas alongside computer vison such as designing and wiring control systems, PLC’s, motion control, robotics, vision systems, and using electrical test instrumentation.

• Strong organization with respect to balancing R&D needs with project timelines, working independently both onsite as part of a team and remotely. 

Preferences

• Bachelor's degree in electrical technology, Computer Science or Machine Vision Engineering.
• 5+ years experience designing, commissioning, troubleshooting current electrical systems, computer vision, machine learning or material handling system architecture. 
• Knowledge in theory and practice of computer vision, machine learning and deep learning techniques.
• Experience performing proof of concept testing to define imaging requirements for consumer devices.
• Hands-on experience with building, training, evaluating, and deploying material handling based vision models, or related methods
• Broad technical knowledge spanning a wide range of application areas alongside computer vison such as designing and wiring control systems, PLC’s, motion control, robotics, vision systems, and using electrical test instrumentation.
• Strong programming skills in Linux, Go, Python and/or C++ and one of the deep learning toolkits such as PyTorch, JAX, or Tensorflow.
• Excellent writing, communication, documentation and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organization with respect to balancing R&D needs with project timelines, working independently both onsite as part of a team and remotely.
