Job Description

At our company, we are committed to becoming the premier, research-intensive biopharmaceutical company and are dedicated to providing leading innovations and solutions for today and the future.

Our Research Scientists serve as the driving force behind our Innovations. We identify and target mechanisms or pathways involved in the disease process, and invent novel treatments/therapeutics to address unmet medical needs. This exceptionally COMPLEX task represents one of the most MULTIDISCIPLINARY endeavours in the field.

INNOVATION also thrives at that intersection of multiple disciplines! In this role as a Principal Scientist, Cardiometabolic Imaging Biomarkers, you will have the opportunity to work at that intersection of disciplines to shape innovation in biomarker sciences, influence pipeline decisions, and contribute to a research-driven environment with industry-leading expertise. This role is within our Biomarkers & Data Analytics team at our state-of-the-art research laboratory in Biopolis, Singapore.

If you are PASSIONATE about applying your expertise to address critical unmet needs and accelerate the discovery and development of new drugs, we invite you to join us in pioneering the future of biomarker research for the biopharmaceutical industry.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT …

  • Opportunity to drive innovation at the intersection of multiple disciplines by integrating medical and disease biology, imaging technologies, big data and biobanks, and AI-ML/data science.

  • Opportunities for engaging your innovative & creative mind to experiment with new ideas and approaches.

  • A supportive working environment that fosters career growth and continuous learning.

WHAT YOU WILL DO …

As a Principal Scientist, you will play a key role in identifying, developing, validating, and deploying novel cardiometabolic imaging biomarkers for obesity, cardiovascular, metabolic, and liver diseases.

You will shape these efforts by developing a compelling strategy and executing it while mentoring and influencing a cross-functional team of biomarker experts and data scientists. Additionally, you will collaborate with external research institutions and contract research organizations to drive innovation and achieve impactful outcomes.

One of your key responsibilities will be to coordinate data generation through reverse translation, identify translational research opportunities, support the development and deployment of AI/ML analytics tools, and oversee data analysis and interpretation.

Additionally, you will provide medical and disease biology insights into mechanisms of action, disease phenotyping, staging, and translatability. You will integrate imaging biomarkers with molecular biomarkers while harnessing big data, biobanks, and data science.

As a result of these initiatives, you will have the opportunity to significantly impact our pipeline programs. This may include establishing proof-of-biology for novel therapeutics and generating insights from data to support decision-making in our cardiometabolic research programs.

Your role will also involve communicating our scientific strategy and data to various stakeholders, including project teams, senior management, and external collaborators. Authoring project proposals and study reports will be another aspect of your responsibility of the role.

Working at the cutting edge of biomarker development offers you the opportunity to present and publish these innovative ideas/insights and introduce fresh perspectives within the industry and foster productive dialogues within the scientific community to enhance understanding and share diverse viewpoints.

WHAT YOU MUST HAVE

You are required to have a PhD in Computational Sciences, Biomedical/Life Sciences, Engineering disciplines, or a related field, with at least 7+ years of research experience in the development of cardiometabolic imaging biomarkers; alternatively, a master’s degree in these fields with at least 12+ years of relevant experience will also be acceptable.

Additionally, you should possess strong subject-matter expertise in imaging modalities such as MRI, CT, DXA, ultrasound, and optical imaging, and extensive hands-on experience in conducting in vivo preclinical and/or clinical imaging experiments is considered a strong plus.

Furthermore, understanding of regulatory, compliance, and scientific requirements related to the discovery, development, and validation of novel and innovative imaging biomarkers is essential.

You are required to have proven expertise in biomarker development for cardiometabolic diseases, demonstrated by peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations. A strong understanding of the biology, molecular mechanisms, and pathophysiology of conditions like diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular diseases, chronic kidney disease, and MASH will be essential.

It would be preferable if you have exposure to programming, complex data analysis and visualization, various image processing techniques, computational modeling, and AI/ML/data science tools.

Having experience in conducting translational research, and the clinical development of therapeutics for these conditions will provide you with a significant advantage in your role.

Your leadership skills in building partnerships and leveraging relationships within and across work groups, along with your ability to engage and persuade others to gain acceptance of ideas & foster commitment, will be critical for unlocking the potential of our talents and investments.

Your proficiency in identifying and understanding problems and opportunities through the analysis of quantitative and qualitative information; choosing the best course of action by establishing clear decision criteria; evaluating alternatives and making timely decisions —will be crucial to your leadership skills required for success in shaping our future.

Finally, your ability in facilitating change by encouraging others to implement better approaches and leading the implementation of change within the workplace; along with creating novel solutions that provide measurable value and experimenting with new ways to address work problems, will be vital for driving innovation and deliver impact.
