Data Engineer – Business Intelligence & Analytics

What You'll Do:
The Value Creation team develops strategies, techniques, and insights to maximize total subscriber value across the Consumer Sales ecosystem. We provide business leaders with visibility into economic drivers of value across the lifecycle of our subscriber base. We aggregate data from disparate environments to construct Customer Lifetime Value models, from customer acquisition (marketing and installation) to subscription revenue to service changes.
As a Data Engineer, you'll focus on using data engineering practices to support business growth and improve customer profitability. You'll work closely with Business Intelligence and IT teams to collect, clean, and structure data related to customer financing, pricing, job costing, and revenue management.
You’ll assist in the development of data-driven pricing programs aimed at optimizing existing customer sales performance, reducing attrition, and enhancing profitability. You'll also manage and analyze data to support go-to-market strategies for the company's existing customers.
Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you’ll ensure data is well-organized and accessible, enabling teams to translate business needs into actionable insights. You’ll help identify inefficiencies, recommend data solutions, and ensure that data strategies align with business objectives to drive long-term growth.
- Develop and maintain data pipelines for efficient data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes.
- Contribute to the design and implementation of data architecture and data management strategies.
- Provide training and support to internal users on data tools and techniques.
- Subject matter expert on all data and systems impacting customer profitability and growth
- Improve visibility into realized impacts of new and existing customer price changes
- Represent Value Creation Team on technical system implementations and enhancements, including but not limited to data warehouse environments, configure/price/quote tools, billing systems, eCommerce engines.
- Captures, integrates, and analyzes sales and installation transaction information in support of ongoing and ad-hoc pricing and credit decisions.
- Connect and aggregate transactional level data from multiple disparate systems, providing advanced analytics and insights into customer profitability and improved customer lifetime value.
- Apply practical judgment to interpret and hypothesize opportunities and help construct tests that will validate value creation opportunities
- Assist in developing executive-level presentations to illustrate data insights and present key findings which drive decision-making.
What You'll Need:
- Undergraduate degree required; preferably in the field of computer science, engineering, or statistics.
- 2+ years of related experience in an analytical/data engineering role.
- Experience with cloud platforms Google Cloud, AWS, or Azure.
- Proficiency in SQL for data querying and manipulation.
- Programming skills in languages such as Python, R, or Java a plus.
- Familiarity with database systems such as SQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL.
- Knowledge of ETL tools and techniques for data integration.
- Understanding of statistical analysis and data mining techniques.
- Natural comfort with numbers and a strong quantitative mindset.
- Ability to connect the dots and understand the second/third order effects.
- Experience with Tableau, Power BI, or other data visualization tools a plus.
- Comfort with querying, joining and manipulating large data sets.
- Be able to see the big picture, make thoughtful tradeoffs and focus on what matters.
- Effectively break down complex data & analysis for non-technical audience.
- Know how to respectfully challenge with data to prevent a wrong decision.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously preferred.
- Experience in a subscription business preferred.
