Empowering the world starts with living our values and empowering our team. As a quickly growing company focused on helping people live healthier and happier lives, we ensure that our team members have what they need to do their best work — both in and out of the office.

We are seeking a Biomedical Engineer familiar with different sensor technologies, and a strong background on PPG (photoplethysmography) and spectroscopy methods to join our Science team in Finland. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in translating sensor data into health metrics, from an understanding of hardware components to applying data analysis techniques and algorithm development. You will work within our Future Physiology team, and we seek a biomedical engineer who embraces rapid testing and iterative learning through a 'test quickly, fail quickly' approach. You should demonstrate confidence in working with sensor prototypes, and your passion is in creation of novel ideas, concepts, and algorithms that are physiologically valid and generalizable across diverse populations.

What You will do:

  • Conduct experiments of biosignal measurements and handle large amounts of data to find the diamonds in the haystack
  • Develop and deploy biosignal processing methods tailored for physiological data
  • Create novel concepts, and work with emerging sensor technologies
  • Provide data-driven recommendations to inform the development of future hardware generations
  • Communicate with cross-functional teams and overseas stakeholders

We would love to have You on our team, if You have:

  • Have 3+ years of experience in biosignal processing and sensor technology, especially in ppg and spectroscopy applications
  • Solid programming skills in Python
  • Have an advanced degree (Masters) in a STEM-related field (e.g. engineering, computer science, mathematics, statistics) or equivalent work experience
  • Exhibit a practical, can-do attitude with a delivery-focused mindset: you think quickly, act decisively, and prioritize with agility to drive rapid results
  • Is prepared to pioneer in uncharted territory, and, when one path closes, has the ability to discover multiple new ones
  • An in-depth understanding of human physiology to connect sensor outputs with underlying biological processes, ensuring that insights derived from biosignals are both valid and actionable for health and wellness applications
  • Are comfortable working with a diverse, distributed and talented group of team members

An understanding of optics and electronics design is also highly appreciated in this role.
