Job Description & Summary

The Data Governance Manager will be focused on Gen AI Use Case Management to oversee the strategic implementation and maintenance of data governance practices specific to Generative AI solutions. This role requires a deep understanding of data management principles, regulatory compliance, and the unique challenges posed by AI technologies. The successful candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure data integrity, compliance, and usability, and will play a key role in shaping the organization’s Gen AI data governance practices.

Meaningful work you’ll be part of 

As an AI Data Governance Manager, you’ll work as part of a team of problem solvers, helping to solve business issues, deliver high quality client service and operational efficiency. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

  • Execute and revise Data Governance Framework for Gen AI, contribute and implement robust data governance policies and practices tailored to Gen AI use cases. 

  • Ensure that all Gen AI-related data processes comply with relevant data protection regulations and industry standards. 

  • Identify and mitigate data risks associated with data handling and Gen AI application, including data protection, compliance, and ethical considerations.  

  • Work closely with data engineers, data architects, legal teams, and business leaders to align data governance activities with organizational goals. 

  • Conduct ad-hoc and planned training sessions and workshops to promote data governance best practices across the organization for Gen AI. 

  • Develop and deliver regular reports on data governance activities, compliance status, and improvements within the Gen AI program. 

  • Continuously evaluate and enhance data governance frameworks to adapt to evolving AI technologies and business needs. 

Experiences and skills you’ll use to solve 

  • Bachelor's degree in data science, Computer Science, Information Management, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred. 

  • Relevant certifications such as Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP), Certified Information Management Professional (CIMP), EDMC (DCAM), or equivalent are highly desirable. 

  • Extensive experience in data governance, data management, or a related field, with recent focus on AI, Gen AI or machine learning applications. 

  • Proven track record of managing complex data governance projects from inception to completion. 

  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and driving organizational change initiatives. 

  • Proficiency in data governance and management tools such as MS Purview, Collibra, Informatica, or similar platforms. 

  • Understanding of AI and machine learning principles, particularly in the context of data governance. 

  • In-depth knowledge of data protection regulations and emerging regulations such as Bill C-27 AIDA, NIST, GDPR, CCPA, and industry-specific standards. 

  • Competence in data analysis tools and techniques. Programming experience preferred although not required 

  • Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, primarily in relation to data storage and processing.
