About the Team

DoorDash is seeking a talented Engineering Manager to lead our newly formed Dasher Insurance team, part of the Dasher Engagement pillar, which focuses on three key principles: ensuring Dashers understand quality through clear feedback, motivating improvements with a suite of rewards, and building genuine respect by positioning DoorDash as a trusted partner in Dashers' financial journeys.

The Dasher Insurance team is revolutionizing safety and security for our most valuable partners—our Dashers. We're tackling ambitious technical challenges at the intersection of real-time safety systems, machine learning, and insurance tech. Our team is developing products to mitigate real-world risks through intelligent routing and safety alerts, provide instant support when incidents occur, and streamline claims through automated processes—all while gathering invaluable data that makes our platform safer with each delivery.

This isn't just about insurance—it's about building technology that keeps Dashers safe, rewards quality, and demonstrates our commitment to their financial security. Our goal is to create a platform where Dashers feel genuinely protected and valued, choosing DoorDash because of the comprehensive safety net we provide and the respect we show through our technology investments.

About the Role

As the manager for the Dasher Insurance team, you will lead a growing team of mobile, fullstack and backend engineers. You will also collaborate greatly with product, design, operations and peer engineering teams to deliver solutions that fundamentally improve Dasher safety while unlocking new business opportunities from insurance products distributed through our platform. You’re excited about this opportunity because you will…
  • Lead the technical vision, strategy, and execution of the team charter, working alongside cross-functional partners
  • Lead the identification and conception of scalable systems that power insurance offerings while prioritizing Dasher safety and making Dashing easier and more seamless
  • Build systems and products that have a tangible impact on Dashers and a direct business impact on DoorDash
  • Scale the team by growing internal talent and attracting world-class talent
  • Grow in your career with unique and challenging opportunities to expand your skill set
We’re excited about you because…
  • You’re an owner - driven, focused, and quick to take ownership of your work
  • You are impact driven - you sign up for and drive high-business impact
  • A strong hands-on technical leader and strong product sense
  • Humble - you’re willing to get into the details and you’re open to feedback
  • You have 2+ years of engineering leadership experience as an EM on a full-stack team
  • You have 7+ years of industry experience
  • You have experience navigating ambiguous business problems and tackling high-scale technical challenges
